    D&D 5E (2014) My Current DND5 Ideas

Keep the Maneuvers but drop the XD dice in favor of just extra standard actions at higher levels. The play-testing is showing that XD, while fun, takes too much time when the dice are rolled and selected and accounted for. Keep the 1 reaction out of turn. Turn Parry and Protect as well as other...

    D&D 5E (2014) metamagic feats

I like the maneuvers and I like the reaction and the extra standard action. I don't like the expertise dice though as I think it adds unneeded complexity to the game. We also have to track the XD now and remember that we reacted so that we can't do a maneuver during an action. Here is how we...

D&D 5E (2014) Explain your Modular Class Ideas

So a points system taken from your own hit points or those of your victims. And then a magic artifact system in which each has a dice pool that recharges after an extended rest. Or you can have a dice pool recharge based on terrain.

D&D 5E (2014) New take on why expertise dice is a bad mecanic

I have a problem with expertise dice just because it takes as long as an extra standard action. But here is something I really love about it. I really love the idea of taking a reaction out of turn, just one reaction. And I think that Parry and Protect are awesome and I don't want those things...

D&D 5E (2014) Explain your Modular Class Ideas

What about Recharge for classes? The monk can use a Ki power again on a 4 rolling a d4? Recharge using different die? Not just a d6?

    D&D 5E (2014) Stalker0's Maneuver Review

I just read the Monk maneuvers so I won't comment on those yet. I agree with your Deadly Strike, Parry and Protect comments. I also agree with your Situational Manuvers versus the hardcore increase damage during your action or reduce damage during your reaction Maneuvers. I see the XD for...

D&D 5E (2014) Idea: Fighters can use any fighter manuever with reduced die

I was thinking 3 starting maneuvers and a total of 10 more maneuvers spread out through levels 2 to 30.

D&D 5E (2014) Idea: Fighters can use any fighter manuever with reduced die

I have an idea where you're going with this. You want players to try out maneuvers to see if they like them and add variety to the game. I like where your idea is going. But what about players with only 1 expertise die because they are low level?

D&D 5E (2014) Explain your Modular Class Ideas

What are you trying to say? So I choose a Wizard class and then I can decide to use An Expertise Dice System or An At-Will, Encounter, Daily, Utility spell system? or A Spells Per Day Slot System? or A Use Any Spell Any Time System? How would we balance all that out?

D&D 5E (2014) Do Away with Weapon Attack, Magic Attack, Save Bonuses

If we just award more ability score bonuses when leveling up, then level does have an impact on rolls. Why do we need Weapon Attack Bonuses, Magic Attack Bonuses and Save Bonuses? We've added these 5E class bonus tables like Pathfinder. I hate that aspect of Pathfinder. Do away with all these...

D&D 5E (2014) Flat math ability scores vs roleplay considerations

Another poster on the WOTC forum pointed out that the fighter has a +5 weapon attack bonus at 10th level which means he'll have a +10 weapon attack bonus at 20th level. Add that to his Strength20(+5) bonus and we are already exceeding the +10 bonus flat math goal. I was told by a designer that...

D&D 5E (2014) Flat math ability scores vs roleplay considerations

As in the other threads I commented in, why not decide where the bonus comes from in a roll. either an ability-10/2 bonus or a level/3 bonus or a magic bonus whichever of the 3 is the highest.

    D&D 4E Viability of a flatter math 4e campaign?

When the new flat math came out for the 5th edition play-test, the first thing I did was have everyone remove the 1/2 level to bonuses in the 4th edition game. But that means that level doesn't matter to hit. So how about this. Test this in your 4th edition game and tell me if it works for...

    D&D 5E (2014) Ideas To Keep Bonuses Under +10

summary Humanoids max at ability20 level 30 Monsters max at ability30 level 30 Any roll bonus maxes at +10 Roll bonus The higher of your (ability-10/2 or your level/3 round up) then add a magic item from +1 to +5. The bonus can't exceed +10 This achieves the flat math goal and gives us the...

D&D 5E (2014) My Spell and Prayer Ideas for 5E

O.k. Here are my ideas for spells in 5th edition. Do away with spell level and just give spells a class level limit. For example, only 2nd level casters can learn this spell. Organize spells by what they do and how powerful they are in relation to each other. Gather the Abjuration spells like...

D&D 5E (2014) Lightning Bolt, Web, and Sleep

I agree with a lot of your comments. I've got house rules I'm trying to impress on you and others. I always give monsters the spells the party has to see how the party reacts to the rules applied to them. That's why automatic damage is unpopular.
