    Knocking PC's out

The closest thing I can think of is the assassin's parlyze ability using a sap. Course, that requires an assassin...

Remind me again why this is a bad idea.

I had really hoped the class splat books would have something along those lines. :( I think it's reasonable to swap out the armor feats for either other feats or skill points, as long as you're careful about what you do.

Kewl. I'm only going to send 25, but I'm going to change the name for each one. Ninjaworld Sigma Presents Ninjaworld Ninjaland World of Ninja Ninjas R0XX0R!!!!! Ginsu: Enter the Ninja ...

WotC Seeking Your Setting Proposals (was "Big Wizard announcement")

Re: Re: Good morning Not only that, but judging by other threads on this board, it looks like there will be a lot of spamming. 4-10 entries from a single person in some cases.

WotC Seeking Your Setting Proposals (was "Big Wizard announcement")

Considering that it's going to be blind judging, information about you in your cover letter is pretty much a moot point. Neh?

WotC Seeking Your Setting Proposals (was "Big Wizard announcement")

Hmmm...what's an appropriate font size for this type of thing. I'm a bit over using size 10...

    Stacking Flaming and Shocking?

Well, it does take multiple rounds to 'spell up' normally. A wizard who wants to have shield and mirror image on before entering combat still has to use actions to either cast the spells or use a wand. Why should a melee type get a free ride when everyone else has to spend time prepping. Is...

    Effect of smoking pot?

Hmmm...considering that marijuana really hits short term memory, I'd be inclined to go with an Int penalty instead of a Wis penalty. IMO, it should inflict 1d4 points of temporary intelligence damage and give a -2 or -4 to saves vs illusions and/or mind effecting spells. If you want to give it...

Players (not DMs): What do you do between games?

    Polish my character sheet. Duh.

Boots of Stringing and Striding with FLY

That's my interpretation. Edit: Oops, misread a piece of the question. For ER, I do believe it doubles all natural movement rates. For the boots, only land movement with feet applies.

Boots of Stringing and Striding with FLY

From the SRD fly description: 'Using the fly spell requires as much concentration as walking, so the subject can attack or cast spells normally. The subject of a fly spell can charge but not run, and it cannot carry aloft more weight than its maximum load (see page 142), plus any armor it...

Has anyone used Mark of Justice spell?

Not true. If the EL was appropriate for the characters involved, and the party left themselves open to a tactic like that, they'd get hit with sleep spells by me. I don't hold back with encounters that have appropriate EL's for the characters' levels. I wouldn't put a 1st level party against...

The lovely stupidity of some players...

I've been running a city-based thief game for a while and the characters encountered some enforcers on their turf stirring up trouble. In this case, it was a group consisting of 2 kobolds monk/rogues, a halfling knife-fighter, and a half-orc bruiser. I ahd given the characters warning that the...

Has anyone used Mark of Justice spell?

When the players are using it against the bad guys, sure, Bestow Curse isn't that powerful. Now have the bad guys start flinging it at the players. A spellcaster can be crippled with this spell. for kicks, try targeting the cleric's wisdom with it sometime. If you get through their Will...

    D&D bonanza!!

Okay Eric, I gotta ask, what's the story behind the half-orc wizard? Is it a roleplaying inspired choice, or do you have some meta-game genius waiting to be unleashed on an unexpecting DM? I'm playing a half-orc wizard/barbarian in a PBeM, but I haven't figured out if he'll be any good yet...

    Maintaining Grim and Gritty Flavour!

Re: grim 'n gritty (Completely off-topic, but Han Solo was tortured to create pain which would in turn cause a disturbance in the force to attract Luke's attention and lure him to Vadar's trap. I'm not saying that Vadar wouldn't necessarily torture someone just for fun, but in that instance...

REALLY What Was So Bad About 2nd Edition?

18(XX) strength. The only advantage orther than specialization that a fighter had, and you had to have an 18 in Strength to get it. Thieves. I don't think I ever saw anyone play a single classed thief in all the years I played 2e. The way MS/HS worked was especially obnoxious. Priest...

Stoned Familiars - Are They Dead or Alive?

[POLL] What's the D&D gaming level "Sweet Spot?"

I went with 7-9, but I agree that 5-8 better fits with my preferences. I've played high level games, all the way to 9th level spells, and things just aren't any fun for me. There's too much to keep track of (everyone spelling up, one time per day abilities, magic items), especially for the DM...
