If a familiar gets turned to stone, does the master lose xp? If he does lose it, and the familiar is later restored, does he gain the xp back?

From the condition summary:

"A petrified character is not dead as long as a majority of his body remains intact. "

So, no. The master does not lose XP.

I have a vision of a Wizard or Sorceror purposely petrifying his familiar and then keeping him protected or handy in a Glove of Storing.

As long as it is alive and within 1 mile of the familiar, the master gains those bonuses...:D
