D&D 5E (2014) is this nova makes sense? op?

I am sorry, I have no idea what is this. A paladin smite from 3rd level spells adds 4d8 (4*4.5) damage per attack. I haven't found anything on either the oath of conquest or the hexblade that changes this.

    D&D 5E (2014) Blade Ward - Best Fix?

Sorry, next time I meet one of those wights that constantly haunt here in the frozen north, I will volunteer to level-drain my pedantry. ;)

    D&D 5E (2014) Blade Ward - Best Fix?

Only in absolute terms, which may not be useful in determining when to use dodge or blade ward. If a hero is being hit 50% of the time, giving disadvantage to the enemy will turn it to 25%, which leads to an average 50% less damage taken (ignoring crits). The prospect of a crit may favor blade...

    D&D 5E (2014) Weapon Specialization?

I am used to understand the "Fighting Style" feature as a broadened weapon specialization of sorts, with combat feats and weapon master maneuvers further adding to the concept. It seems I am totally off mark.

D&D 5E (2014) Feats, class balance and fun

I am sorry, I may not be understanding what you meant here. My remark was not intended to be read as if I was inferring something that someone other than me meant or, to that regard, experienced. To be more clear, what I was trying to express was that, even though it is a fair assumption that at...

    D&D 5E (2014) Fear with no Options

Just imagine someone trying this argument of "no options" if the frightened creature was not grappled but completely cornered, and then someone pointed out it still had somewhere to go, if only it could fly.

D&D 5E (2014) is this nova makes sense? op?

Oh, ok, you have a lot of att bonus to sink on the -5, so go for it. Where is the 4.5*6 per attack coming from, though?

D&D 5E (2014) Class Inclusion Criteria (general discussion)

Unfortunately for this concept, the blessing of the trickster does not work on oneself.

    D&D 5E (2014) Blade Ward - Best Fix?

If you mean that the original attack had 70% to hit, with dodge the chance drops to 49%, which is 21% in absolute percentage, the actual reduction is 30% in damage (all this ignoring crits). But yes, the point was made that, between dodge and blade ward, circumstances will define the better option.

D&D 5E (2014) Class Inclusion Criteria (general discussion)

I wouldn't mind myself if rangers, paladins and berserkers were all subclasses of the fighter, although in this case, the base chassis would need some adjustments to accommodate more features in the subclasses. I guess I would even like the design better.

D&D 5E (2014) is this nova makes sense? op?

Well, it seems something is wrong with your original math, but if all you want is a comparison to what other PC could do, and considering you can only do that combo once per fight and that you need a previous round to actually set it up, if you are using hex + hexblade curse, we have from the...

How about the carnivorous hunting dwellers of Athas that actually perceive other sentient beings as potential food?

D&D 5E (2014) is this nova makes sense? op?

I guess it is + prof to damage from hexblade, warlock unearthed arcana. Also, to hex + hexblade curse, two rounds are needed, as both take a bonus action.

D&D 5E (2014) Class Inclusion Criteria (general discussion)

Interesting perspective. For me, divine power is also not present, but what substitutes it, to one side, is the connection with elements and the land itself the free or savage peoples that live in the less "civilized" areas on the world have, represented by the elemental cults and druids, and to...

D&D 5E (2014) is this nova makes sense? op?

What do you mean by hexblade oath of conquest? Are you dipping two levels in paladin then going warlock 11 for the 5th level spell slots? If so, the damage limit per smite is 5d8 (as if the slot was 4th level), unless the enemy is undead or fiend. In your calculations you seem to assume 6d8; if...

    D&D 5E (2014) Blade Ward - Best Fix?

All this. The cantrip really did not seem designed for the casual wizard, but for a frontline who has some arcane capabilities and means to retaliate. It works wonders with Armor of Agathys even without the feat Heavy Armor Master. It is also quite decent if you know you will get pummeled by all...

D&D 5E (2014) Class Inclusion Criteria (general discussion)

As long as there is a Magic-User, a Fighting man, a Thief and a Cleric, (don't even care about the names) I'm good. Actually, golden.
