BLUE ROSE Returns, Championing Diversity & Inclusiveness

Ya they did. They they even blew up a glove and tied it to the end of a stick. I know because after I read it, I got to read a bunch of people basically saying what you are. I honestly didn't mind the backpating. I mean, how are you going to know if they don't mention it.

BLUE ROSE Returns, Championing Diversity & Inclusiveness

I don't think there is a page. (At least I can't think of it off hand.) It's a aspect that you just don't see in a lot of RPGs. Combat is virtually a given, but social mechanics are often token or non existent. (Outside of some more out there RPGs anyway.)

BLUE ROSE Returns, Championing Diversity & Inclusiveness

Should be a given, but it isn't always a given unfortunately. I don't know what to make of and that is kind of fun. Never played a romantic fantasy RPG before.

Things that don't translate to the table top

In it's current form it's not a cone. It use to be. I mean I was literally ripping the idea from MGS, but in porting it over to D&D5e (My current platform) I wanted to honor the idea that maps aren't required, so it's based around more general objects rather then precise cones. A cone would...

Need help with a vehicle system

WOW. That is complex. I can't say I understand it all, but you tend to want more weapons then you do armor, assuming they can't shoot them at at once, so something like make weapons 1/2 or 1/4 the cost of armor. Weapons are fun and it's nice to have a few options when making an attack.

Things that don't translate to the table top

It's kind of a little odd how often railroading is a thing when RPGs can be this big open thing. Like I recall debates where the argument went along the lines of rail road your players, but don't let them know. Most adventures I have bought are presented in a narrow railroad fashion. I think...

    D&D 5E (2014) Beginner question / ability check + proficiency bonus

Tool proficiency would be one. I also might be imagining, but I think there is a class ability that adds proficiency to an ability check of some kind?

D&D 5E (2014) Any reason not to let PCs add Proficiency to all Saves?

Won't that kind of reduce the diversity of the classes if everyone has the same saves?

Things that don't translate to the table top

Token amount for thinking of alternate routs. I tend to spend much much more time thinking about how to translate an idea. What I often do is try to strip down the idea to what I really like about it and see how I can port over that . The thing is that some are just hard to port over. (Not...

    D&D 5E (2014) How to handle a shapechanging Mermaid

Let the player pick what happens. A some of theses options basically leave them half naked and that's not the kind of thing you want to push on a player unless they are cool with it. Another idea is to just not include legs. Some mermaid descriptions give them long snake like tails that could...

Things that don't translate to the table top

I think I have seen a few cases of skill based magic, but they do tend to try and systemic the checks quite a bit. It ends up being more a way to do custom spells then to preserve mystery.

Synthicide RPG – vehicle combat rules – feedback?

Looks easier to understand now. It seems odd that running away needs no check, but I guess that is because the check is on the chase check.

Synthicide RPG – vehicle combat rules – feedback?

Convoy the RPG. http://store.steampowered.com/app/318230 I was literally just thinking of that at work. The idea is a solid one, but it would seem like a lot of work to run it at a table top. You would have to take time at the end of each turn to move all the terrain elements a square to the...

Synthicide RPG – vehicle combat rules – feedback?

If you have something like initiative, then just have them roll initiative at the start. You can have different vehicles give initiative bonuses to help work that out. Why have you separated the phases? Any time you do things in phases, it really complicates things and I don't see much of a...

D&D 5E (2014) D&D Races vs. Monsters (take away lessons on converting)

You gotta have the ability to turn people to stone. I mean it's the one ability they are known for.

Things that don't translate to the table top

You could wing the vagueness. You know rather then presetting the unknown just make it up on the spot because well it's unknown. Though there would be that extra temptation to wing things in one direction or another.

Things that don't translate to the table top

When it comes to letting dumb players play smart characters, I have experimented with a player is right system. Basically the player can make an assertion and if they roll high enough, there assertion is right. The world will warp and bend so that the player is right.

Things that don't translate to the table top

I don't think you can really system something and then also keep it mysterious. The second you put a stat down on your character sheet, you take away some of the mystery. You could try a system where the player doesn't know what they can do with magic outside of some vague magic idea, but your...

Things that don't translate to the table top

Ya detail is rather hard to do in table top. (Not that it stops some systems from trying.) In depth systems in general tend to be hard because of all the detail. I once played with a borderlands RPG and just making a random gun system felt like a lot of work with out a lot of pay off. I am also...

Things that don't translate to the table top

One of my hobbies is to look at video games/movies/books and wonder can you make an RPG about that. I have a lot of fun with it mostly because a lot of ideas don't translate well, so lets talk about that. Alternate paths: I love them in video games and one imagines that the freedom to solve a...
