    Steampunk Musha D20?

As much as I like d20...I think this setting screams "PORT ME TO TRUE20!" If you like Steampunk Musha, Kitsunemore from Dog Soul is also an EXCELLENT book. While not steampunk, it captures a similar level of flavor, although is more feudal oriental than the more progressive minded Steampunk...

    No Second Edition Love?

man, all the hat for 2e. I, for one, loved it. I started at AD&D, and 2e was just the greatest game ever played in my humblest of opinions. We had ONE house rule, and one house rule only...and that was a modified weapon specialization for all classes. Then again, that was back in the days...

    ICE and the ENnies

I think this is easy. ENNIES...named for a reason. d20 board or not. Open discussion of any game system is allowed here. I've never heard otherwise. People may get banned for rude/abusive behavior, but not for talking about another system. This is just a message board. Just because a lot of...

    A Community SRD?

The many times I've thought this through, I've always tried to think of ways to make sure publishers get their due. The question is, how much IS their due, and what can you do about it. If sales are decreasing for them, I'd want to make sure they get something back out of it, but cash isn't...

    A Community SRD?

My question is- do we NEED more crunch? How much is left out in this world un-crunched? If it moves publishers to a more PI fluff focused model, so be it. I'm just not sure (after hearing about an abortionist advanced class in a d20 modern product) that we've run out of sane ideas. It's like...

    A Community SRD?

Straw man...maybe. But it's what you hear from the publishers who are against the idea. Like I said, I'm all for it.

    A Community SRD?

Not to mention, it kills the small PDF market. If you only sell 1 class as a PDF pay product, and that class is OGC and someone puts it up on this magic OGC database, why would you bother purchasing the published pay product? out of the goodness of your heart? doubtul. For Phil, Gareth, and...

Game shop in or around Deerfield Beach Fl.

I've been to Tate's, but in the end...it isn't all that cool. There was a nice place down in Davie, IIRC it's on the left side going down 441 a few miles south of 595 (Ft Lauderdale). Shouldn't be more than a 20-25 minute hike south down the highway - as long as you're not going around rush...

If you were a Beholder.........what would you ask of my players?

The food idea started to really get my brain going. Sort of like the Knights who say Ni! Maybe they must bring him a shrubbery? Or chop down the mightiest tree in the forest with a herring? Or some equally daunting task. Maybe he's hungry for a unicorn? Make the PCs go out and find a unicorn...

Microlite20 : the smallest thing in gaming

Good call Larcen. I imagine though, after hearing greywulf's arguments, that it may not be as bad as I think it is. I will admit not playing this ruleset, just crunching numbers from the math side. I think if I houserule HPs per class, and maybe re-tweak a few things to give some advantage to...

Microlite20 : the smallest thing in gaming

Call it CAB (Class Attack Bonus) or LAB (Level Attack Bonus), either way, the NET gain is +1/level which is comparable to a d20 fighter class. If, in d20, all classes got +1/level, then I imagine that all monster challenges would be much MUCH different. But, because you're giving it to everyone...

Microlite20 : the smallest thing in gaming

Actually...no. :) There IS a concept of base attack bonus...it's LEVEL. You can name it what you want, but it's still a base attack bonus (no matter what, you have LEVEL +/- modifiers...that's what makes it a base). With all PC classes able to get multiple attacks as low as lvls 1-3, not...

Microlite20 : the smallest thing in gaming

Good luck with that. I'm a hard head and don't budge sometimes. Having STR (full stat score and not just stat bonus) certainly helps, but IMHO only at low levels. It certainly makes it less deadly early, which I'll admit I will change my opinion of that. However, I still think that in the long...

Microlite20 : the smallest thing in gaming

Got it, I was thinking STR 'bonus' not the whole STR stat. That changes things a little. I still stand by my arguments, however.

Microlite20 : the smallest thing in gaming

With a +8, why didn't the ogre get 2 attacks? How did you figure HPs for the PCs? they all seem unnaturally high. Even the mage with an STR 5 has 18HP (rolling max d6 for all 3 levels).

Microlite20 : the smallest thing in gaming

While not a 'combat test,' greywulf's own comments about the deadliness of Lvl 20 on 20 combat show exactly what both of us (Larcen and myself) are distinctly concerned about: He later said that this was sans magical trappings, but considering that they should scale pretty evenly (IE: the...

Microlite20 : the smallest thing in gaming

Darn that forgetting about +1 for the fighter. I knew it was every 5 levels, I just forgot about that first level. :)

Microlite20 : the smallest thing in gaming

Wulf, Thanks for stepping in. I apologize if it sounded like I was attacking the system. As for the BAB argument, you did hit it right on the head. Yes, there is no BAB term, but effectively, it is +1/level for all classes. How'd you get a lvl 1 fighter with +6/+1 with STR 18? I understand...

Microlite20 : the smallest thing in gaming

Not sure if m20 is fully done, but I'd really like to chime in here. Everyone gets a basic BAB of +1/lvl, fighters get that +5. AC does not scale, and because there are no special abilities to evade damage or boost AC outside of straight dex + armor, we have a problem. Not to mention, with...
