    D20 Modern in 2007?

Putting words into my mouth now. :) I never said I WANTED a setting. I'm just describing what a setting is to me. I'm a picky gamer.

Concluding "Expedition to Castle Ravenloft" (Spoilers)

I was also thinking of Vistani and the wolves patrolling the mists as well, attacking unwelcome visitors and departing Barovians.

    D20 Modern in 2007?

I dunno, I think there are a number of things that change it from a campaign 'model' (IMHO) and a full blown setting. When I see setting, the first thing I think of is MAP. Well, modern HAS a map, and it's not in the rulebook. Not that I want a world map in the book, I already have a map. The...

    D20 Modern in 2007?

Three words back at you: Go. LARP. Yourself. Please not that is only in jest. Not all WoD crazies are larpers, and not all larpers are WoD crazies. There is just a generous crossover between them. It's like southern inbreeding. Back to the topic - even WoD isn't a 'setting' it's more of a...

    D20 Modern in 2007?

You could do that, then see the threads fly about "Why does my 8000 page RPG super-core-setting book cost $350?" Or you could just hit them with Ptolus and tell them to shut up and buy a fricking softcover. As much as I like Blood and Relics *cough* (and YotZ) *cough*...it's not really a...

    D20 Modern in 2007?

Ralts, Zombies must have eaten his copy of YotZ. That's why I keep mine on USB drive so that it's ultra portable and can't be easily eaten by zombies...unless they kill me and take it, at which point I won't care anymore. :)

    Victorian setting + fey apocalypse

    Etherscope.

    D20 Modern in 2007?

Agreed. An adventure is an adventure. I think the problem is the OGL and everyone wanting to make money on everything ever written. Write an adventure, shop it around, and if it doesn't go, just put it up for download for free. Making a living from RPGs can't be easy, or we'd all be doing it. I...

    D20 Modern in 2007?

Probably. There are just too many people that stick to the core. It's like those that play D&D with WotC only. I blame it on marketing of the 3e/d20 game and the fact that you and me and diaglo are getting older. I'm beginning to think that I'm not the target market for 3.x and/or the upcoming...

    D20 Modern in 2007?

Agreed. I much prefer the toolkit approach, which is why I like Grim Tales so much. Everything is plug and play. Don't want style XXX? No problem, remove it and substitue style YYY. I don't want to see a default setting of modern. Any way you put it, it is likely not to be MY game setting. And...

    D20 Modern in 2007?

Vig hit it perfectly. Of course the 'implied' setting is modern day earth. But what kind of modern day earth? A campaign 'setting' is more than a map and a tech level. That's what differentiates Greyhawk and FR. The difference is, in general, you can play through a Greyhawk adventure in the...

    D20 Modern in 2007?

I wouldn't so much give it a name (Ie: Greyhawk), but it has that standard (as Vig put it - Tolkien-Howard) implied nature of fantasy. Elves, dragons, magic, middle age technology, etc. You guys call it 'setting' but I call it subgenre. Much like modern has urban arcana, straight modern, modern...

Garnering Interest - PA Game Day

As much as I like WB, it's up in a corner which limits participation considering the average drive from any other 'city' in PA is 2+ hours. If it were someplace evenly central (Harrisburg/State College) it might garner more interest.

    D20 Modern in 2007?

Sure. You can use everything in the SRD, add your own advancement, call it OGL Modern and basically reprint the core book, minus some of the goodies. Most of the goodies can be replicated by other OGC from great books from RPGObjects, Grim Tales, and a number of other quality publishers.

All right...spill the beans. What do you have working up your sleeve?

    D20 Modern in 2007?

C Baize! You da man... You're right. They hit across all the basic modern gaming genres, each book as more of a toolkit than a hard core (not hardcore) setting that has so much cannon you can't mess with it. I think it's done until 4e and we get whever new incarnation of the base game we get...

    D20 Modern in 2007?

Ya know, I'm a big fan of d20 Modern - heck I try to run a chatroom to discuss it. But I think it's lost it's luster. It never was, and never will be D&D, the big behemoth of sales for WotC/Hasbro. And with lackluster perfomances like d20 Past, I'm sure they see that demand is not meeting their...

    Steampunk Musha D20?

Ok, so here's what I started working on before I got sidetracked and forgot about it. As you can see I imported a few feats from d20 modern. Let me know what you think. Gaijin Ability Adjustments: None Bonus Skills: Bonus Feats: Firearms Training, Skill Training Favored Feats: Pick 2 from the...

Microlite20 : the smallest thing in gaming

I think that would just make the mage too powerful in comparison. I hate to go back to the fighter weak argument, but one of the 'balancing' factors about why everyone got the same HP was that magic users had to lose HP to cast. If they lose that option, you have to consider giving the fighter...

    Steampunk Musha D20?

No problem. I'll post up what I have. Maybe this will be a good start to people helping convert some more with me. I just love this setting. I purchased it with no interest in running it with whatever rules set it was for. The art (Rick Hershey and his group) rocks, and the idea of a steampunk...
