Expedition to the Ruins of Greyhawk - got it!

You really need to turn this post ^-^ into a review for the Reviews Section (with some obvious top-and-tail changes).

    Edition Defining Adventures

From my own perspective, I didn't really buy many 2e adventures (I wrote my own mostly). I would however, concur with GDQ being the defining adventures for 1e. They defined the Dungeon Crawl and the AP in one fell swoop. For 3e, I'd suggest the Defining Adventures to be Rappan Athuk and The...

Anyone tried DnD tactics yet? (PsP)

As I understand it, there will be a stand at GenCon UK where this will be demoing, and there will be PSP's to try the game out on.

    Undermountain + Ruins of Greyhawk

That's exactly what I said to my group last night

What old setting would you like to see republished?

Greyhawk. Without a second's hesitation. Al-Qadim. There's room for a fantasy which moves away from the Tolkienesque feel of Greyhawk/ FR, and there's enough general 'Arabian Nights' knowledge for people to feel comfortable with it. And Council of Wyrms. This would probably work fine in...

    Grumble Grumble.

Well, I'm not at GenCon either. Not yet. I go to the UK version in - ooh - two weeks. Now, how about a game of Fluxx, where knowing the Rules don't help (because they keep changing...)

D&D 4E Sight unseen - what are your plans for 4E?

Assuming the folks I DM for are cool with staying at 3.5, that's what I'll do. I have SCAP, AoW, Shades of Grey, War of the Burning Sky, and Rappan Athuk to throw at them yet. That should keep me going until 5e, I reckon

D&D 4E What Changes Do You Think They Will Make To The 4E Rules?

I've only read a review of the Star Wars SAGA system, but I'd say the Skill and Feat systems may well get streamlined along those lines.

Paladin + Monk + Druid + Sorcerer: a good party?

You're the DM. Don't throw so many rogue-oriented obstacles at them and they'll be fine. If they can't unlock a door, have them spot a key poking over the top of the lintel. Reduce the Spot DC's for traps so they have a chance to avoid or work around them. The aim of the game is to have a good...

Expedition to the Ruins of Greyhawk - got it!

Sleep is for tortoises! Enjoy the show. And be sure to give us your thoughts on the module when you get a chance.

    Most common sorcerer/wizard spells?

Having seen how good the Summon Monster spells can be when utilised effectively, I'd include those on the spell lists as well. Dropping a stack of low-level monsters behind enemy lines to provide flanking bonuses (especially for rogue-ish types) can be a very effective tactic.

Ryan Dancey on Redefining the Hobby (Updated: time elements in a storytelling game)

WoW may well have 9 million subscriptions, but that is a worldwide figure (RD's sales data for RPG's and CCG's are USA-based). It also doesn't take into account how many people have played it for a little bit and given up (real life, grind issues, cost factors, etc.). That seems to be a common...

Expedition to the Ruins of Greyhawk - got it!

Whilst I can understand your frustration with the way both Rary and Robilar were portrayed in the post-Greyhawk Wars era, the defection of an arch-mage and a powerful warrior was a powerful way to illustrate the change in the game-world. Agreed, Rary's motives (the search for knowledge in the...

Expedition to the Ruins of Greyhawk - got it!

Without too much of a spoiler, does this volume take Robilar out of The Bright Lands and pull him away from working with Rary?

    D&D Brand Manager of Fluff

Hmm, let's ignore all that Marketing Stuff we've seen already and throw together some ideas no one would want to publish. Until the dark months before a New Edition, that is. 1 Angelic Codex - details on Lawful Good extra-planar creatures for any DM to drop into a campaign when a deus ex...

    ENnie Ceremony Dream Date Auctions

I understand neither Bill Webb nor Clark Peterson from Necro can make it this year, so there is no table/ auction from them. Other Necro types are attending, but the Demon Lords are otherwise engaged...

    Favourite 3.5E dungeon adventures?

The Whispering Cairn in Dungeon #124 is probably the best low-level module written for 3.5e. Period. I'm aching to run it and see PC's fall to their deaths, get over-run by swarms and get into trouble in the Observatory. There's a great bait & switch mechanic and some grand twists. And there's...

    Gencon UK - opinions sought

There's lots of cool stuff added to the schedule recently. There's a game based on Jasper Fforde's Thursday Next books, there's some RuneQuest, lots of RPGA scenarios (I'm doing lots of Greyhawk) and even Paranoia (always good for a laugh). The boards on the ConSupport website don't do a good...
