    Recommend a lengthy d20 product?

For a group about 4th Level, I'd go for Necro's The Grey Citadel. It's a city investigation/ dungeon crawl which can take characters up several levels. Plus it has a great setting and the NPC's are great.

Barrow of the Forgotten King- NOW WITH PLAYTEST

Great thread. I've got this module, but haven't done more than skim-read it at present. Sounds like you had a lot of fun running this one. If I run it, I'll take your advice and drop the maze section!

    AutoREALM - any tips?

Hi, I'm just starting to use AutoRealm, and it is slow going. Anyone who is familiar with it have any tips to improve my learing experience? I know there is a Yahoo! group (which I used to sort out a problem last evening), but I'm after practical hints from real users where possible...

30 Years of Weird - Strangest Campaigns Ever

The Paranoia Difference After reading The Difference Engine, I set a Paranoia game in a Victorian England ruled by The Engine, complete with Bobbies, SteamBots and Secret Societies. I must see if I still have the notes for it one day. Paranoia Chinee Empire Another GM ran Paranoia whilst he...

[Speculation about the] Cause of Dungeon and Dragon Cancellations

From reading posts on another board, the loss of the magazine licences was a shock to Paizo. Work on their next AP was in progress and monsters from non-SRD/ OGL sources (i.e. MM2-4, LM, FC1-2, etc.) had been incorporated in the Path and had to be revised to be OGL again. If Paizo had been...

When did you start using Greyhawk?

There's displaced peoples (Geoff, Tenhas, etc.) trying to reclaim their homes; a demi-god trying to control the world; the disintegration of The Great Kingdom; the effects of war on Nyrond and Furyondy... There are lots of themes of a world trying to regain some equilibrium after a major...

When did you start using Greyhawk?

I think I started in Greyhawk around 1992-1993. I remember reading the 'From the Ashes' preview in Dragon to death and deciding I liked the place. I bought FtA, read it and started my first Greyhawk game using Castle Karistyne as a backdrop. Haven't looked back. It's my gameworld of choice.

Will Levels be taken out and shot?

Levels are the best method of controlling access to high powers. And high-level characters with high-levels of power are what seems to float the boat, these days (no doubt driven by World of Warcraft with 60th Level Munchkins, or whatever). Point-buy (a la Champions) is good, but there's a...

What do you want to ask WotC?

Here are some concerns I don't believe have been addressed by other posters: How do WotC plan to promote the DI to people who don't frequent their website, or Paizo, or ENWorld? Will the site be user-friendly to gamers from countries outside the USA and Canada (i.e. pricing options in € or £...

Whats going on in your game?

I've just started a new campaign. Last week was character generation, a bit of scene-setting, and a gentle fight, as the PC's fought off a couple of bandits attacking the caravan they were travelling with. The mounted ranger (think Mongolian horseman-nomad) got hit by a Sleep spell and slid off...

    Running a Greyhawk campaign

Thanks for the tip-off: I wasn't aware of the pdf. It's safely on my hard drive now.

    Greatest roll ever

Running a 2e game, the players had been hired by a Copper Dragon to kill a Red Dragon who was territory snatching. They'd located an Arrow of Dragon Slaying (rare to the point of Artifact in my game :D ) and were prepping for a fight. The only person with the skill to use the bow was a...

    Running a Greyhawk campaign

Most grognards would recommend the Wold of Greyhawk Folio alone, take what you will from there and adapt. Whilst there is a hint of old-school in me, I'm more flexible. I'd recommend getting hold of the City of Greyhawk Boxed Set (2e) if you haven't already. It's got lots of info on the Free...

    Basic GM mistakes

#25 Let the players do most of the work. Say you have a player who has a Druid PC. They can spontaneously cast Summon Nature's Ally spells and swamp your bad guys with wolves. Make them run the summoned critters, not ask you for the stats from the MM. Encourage them to have sheets with stats...

Doctor Who 2007, Episode 1: "Smith and Jones" (Spoilers likely)

As I understand some of the postings on Outpost Gallifrey, The Master and The Doctor were supposed to be separate parts of the same persona: The Ego and The Id. Delgado wanted to leave because he wasn't getting other work, producers thought he was full-time on Doctor Who when he was only in...

    Do you DM?

I'm the primary DM for our group, but one of the other players is going to be running a game. Another guy did DM, but he sucked. Right now, I'm buying lots of odd pdf's, they are cheaper than print, even better value given the £/$ exchange rate. I'm impatiently waiting for WotBS3, as well ( I...

    HeroLab

HeroForge is now a useful tool, it can go Epic and it has some templates. I need to look at some of the other options and play with them yet. I like it, it's a great tool.
