    Lesser Known Movies Worth Seeing

Another vote for Boondock Saints, which I have to say is nothing like Pulp Fiction, even if some of the scenes are reminiscent of that Tarantino favorite. I especially liked the interplay between Smecker and the other cops, the general format the movie went by (having Smecker and the cops...

Limiting magic item creation without XP.

I like this one. Special materials also fit the bill. If you're creating a weapon to use against a certain kind of monster, then you'll need a good working knowledge of what that monster is vulnerable to. If a demon is vulnerable to meteoric iron and holy stuff, for example, you need to find a...

Gun Fu --- the new EN Minigame

So, it's kinda like that moment in THE KILLER when I definitely like this. I may have to buy this (or the original M&M game, as I'm not typically an online-shopping guy).

    Qualities of a Hero

This is definitely going in my sig file, as it is particularly telling of why we feel the need to destroy our heroes, which is a major theme in a story that I'm working on.

    Fair warning??

Maybe the PCs meet a grumpy NPC who vehemently hates magic (cannot stand to be in the room with a magic-user, refuses to let them into his establishment, that kind of thing). When they grill him on why the hell he's so intolerant of magic, he can tell them about how this evil bastard sorcerer...

If you could Add one more race to the PHB

I too would like a Large PC race. Maybe a new race of PC Giants, for example, like Monte and Co. did with Arcana Unearthed/Evolved. Goblins and orcs would also fit quite well -- they're certainly usable as PCs anyway without all the muss and fuss of level adjustment and all that. I'd like to...

    What are you listening to?

I'm currently listening to some OC Remixes, which is basically a community where artists get together and put together remixes of their favorite videogame music. A lot of the stuff they put out is kickass. Enjoy.

    Ninja/Warlock help!

Neither the Ninja nor the Warlock are Open Game Content, but the two abilities that you mentioned, Sneak Attack and Uncanny Dodge, are definitely Open Game Content (because they're part of the core Rogue class for D&D), so I will elaborate on them. The rogue's Sneak Attack ability is the...

    "Woo-hoo...woo-hoo-hoo..."

I loved the old Raid commercials when I was a kid. These goofy cartoon bugs would always come up with some wacky scheme to get into the kitchen and whatnot, and then someone would come up with a can of Raid, and then the bugs would yell "RAID!!!" before exploding in quite the comic little...

All Falls To Darkness (Song inpired by SW3)

The only gripe I might add: I assume that you were trying to say "suffering" when you wrote "suffrage," because suffrage as defined by the dictionary has more to do with politics and voting than with suffering. Perhaps "anguish" or "torment" or some other two-syllable word would be good here.

Killing things or taking their stuff?

Gotta be good old-fashioned ass-kicking for me. If I loot the corpse of an enemy in-game, it's for spare ammo or a better weapon. If a sizable treasure hoard's in the next room, however, I'm definitely digging in.

    The fallback

Not quite. Henry's talking about the Hong Kong Action Movie RPG, which I'm playing a PbP of over at RPG.Net. We're playing a game in the style of the Shaw Brothers Kung Fu movies, and right now, we've landed in some seriously bad ****. We've just learned that our beloved master is the bad dude...

Role Playing Public Radio presents the Achy Breaky Mythos

Yep, it's from AB3 of RPG.Net fame...and he's got a lot more where that came from.

    Starmetal + aasimar

I think the confusion is coming from the fact that fey and demons can't stand the touch of cold iron, and the person is attributing those same properties to starmetal in reference to outsiders.

[Rant] Is Grim n Gritty anything more than prejuidice?

As far as hit points are concerned, the major problems with them come at high levels. Maybe limit the amount of HP your character gets to about third level or so, then institute a defensive bonus each level to make up for it. As for those powerful critters that can do an obscene amount of...

People worried about saving everyone else

If there are people worthy of protection that you want to ensure their escape, or if the enemy you're facing is something very dangerous that you don't want to let escape the dungeon and wreak havoc on the outside world (like the Balrog of Khazad-Dum in Fellowship of the Ring), then you are...

    Weapons/Items against Spellcasters

If this guy is your only mage, you need to be making a connection with another mage (if not several), so that he can back you up if or when the evil mage finally makes up his mind to kill you and take your stuff. Find ways to nullify his magic at the earliest opportunity once he's crossed the...

    Which sword would you take?

I personally like the first sword. It's a pretty potent demonslayer in the right hands, it can heal you when you've been beaten down badly, it's a pretty good tool for alerting you to the approach of an evil enemy (whether you want to fight it or avoid it), plus it has the added bonus of...

What beasties are in WFRP Bestiary?

I snagged the WFRP Corebook and Bestiary at Barnes and Noble (along with a few books on screenwriting). I love the way that the monster book is laid out, showing the common view, the scholarly view, and sometimes the monster's own viewpoint on things, which is a nice touch. Also cool was the...

Your favorite 3 flavor items from books.

The Wondrous Items back in the DMG (all editions I own, 2nd, 3rd, and 3.5). I like the classic stuff, what can I say? The Living Spells from Eberron. Just a seriously cool idea in its own right. The Lovecraftian overtones of the Aboleth's background and the particulars of illithid society...
