    Northern Crown

I'm not sure how into Northern Crown I am, but that sounds really tempting. I look forward to having a look at it!

    I have the PHII...

Yeah, I'm fond of the options in Unearthed Arcana for specialist wizards. I recently started a campaign playing a conjurer, and happily gave up having a familiar in exchange for being able to cast Summon Monster spells as a standard action. If you haven't, you should have a look at those.

Compendiums (Compendia?) - would you buy them?

I think a feat compedium would be both handy and sell well - everyone needs feats for their characters, and there's probably about 20 books now with various feats in them. Magic items might be nice, as well, but I think it's a little easier to design up a new magic item for a game than it is...

    Database lost?

I just wanted to throw in my own two cents - as someone who does both programming and dba work, I'm shocked at how old a backup this is. What am I donating money for if the admins aren't taking care of what I'm paying for?

Which Sci-Fi RPG has the richest setting?

I'll second the nomination of Transhuman Space.

Who here has bought Transhuman Space?

I've had some of the THS books before. I got a couple from a local store doing the same selloff as SJGames is, and I'm hoping to get the rest of them for xmas in a couple of weeks. We'll see. It's a fantastic setting. It's a shame it's not possible to get the corebook except as the...

    Rate Narnia (spoiler-free thread)

I gave it a 9. It wasn't absolutely perfect - small bits of it could have been better. But as an adaptation of a well loved children's book, it played my heartstrings like a maestro.

    Castles & Crusades: Player's Handbook

I'm looking forward to the second printing. I'm planning on picking it up then, and then quite possibly M&T afterwards, we'll see. Thanks to whoever put the link in for the two pages featuring the 'Ranger' - that's a nice compromise from 70's barebones and modern day full-color layout styles...

What if. . .WotC never bought TSR?

Well, that's an interesting question. 3.5 would probably have been released this year, or maybe next year, as Peter A. would still be in charge of the company and would have waited to release the revision. Various 3rd party publishers might have been warned about the changeover in advance, so...

    Zathura--anyone see it?

Rrrrr... "Thank you for the sssssplended tea. Can you passsss the sssssugar?" I wouldn't mind seeing it, but I'm uncertain what price point I want to pay. :)

    She-Hulk and the fourth wall

There wasn't any particular point where she realized it on camera. Just at the beginning of Byrne's She Hulk she would occasionally make references to the reader (and would sometimes yell at Byrne), and there you go. They collected the first issues of Byrne's run into a TPB, you might be able...

What if. . .WotC never bought TSR?

That's a possibility. Kenzer might have been able to gather the funding to buy at least part of TSR, perhaps the game without the rights to the name, do the same sort of revisions they did in our timeline, and sell it as Hackmaster. People would go around on the boards referring to it as AD&D...

    Old sci-fi stories

I remember this one too, and wait a moment while I go google for it. Are you thinking of the Tripod series by John Christopher? http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0020425716/002-7264964-8068048?v=glance&n=283155&v=glance

FF: ADvent Children Delayed... UPDATED:*DELAYED AGAIN!!!*

Wow. That really strikes me as a mistake. I've been hearing from a number of friends that they were looking forward to getting Advent Children for Xmas - even though just about every single one of them had downloaded it, subtitled, from the internet. On the other hand, considering what i've...

This Weekend at the Box Office: 2005.11.14

Ditto. I'd stated last week that I expected the numbers to be reversed - I expected Chicken Little to do about 10 M. But no... how odd. (And Zathura got some pretty decent reviews.) Maybe people picked up on the Jumanji connection and decided to stay away? It's a puzzle.

This Weekend at the Boxoffice - 11.05.2005

Good call. I hadn't remembered, but according to their website, it's this weekend. So that'll be another reason for the drain from Disney's movie - the older kids will want to go see the space adventure rather than a funny animal movie.

This Weekend at the Boxoffice - 11.05.2005

Well, that's the problem. I'd never even heard of Duma, and checking the www.imdb.com page, apparently it was never on more than 42 screens in the US. That's only technically being released in theaters, in my opinion. March of the Penguins? Well, you're right, that was released, and...

This Weekend at the Boxoffice - 11.05.2005

There haven't been any half-decent kids movies out since Wallace & Gromit hit the theatres, so I suspect Chicken Little picked up a fair bit of business on that. My expectation is that the movie's going to sink to 10M on the second week, as I'm really not seeing any excitement about the movie...

[request/rant] To all reviewers, amateur and pro...

I honestly don't care how the reviewer got his copy. Did he get it for free? Did he get it by trading with someone? Did it fall out of a truck? Did he buy it with the gas money? I dunno. Generally, when I want to see how much weight I should give a reviewer's opinion, I look up what he's...
