    [OT] Blues Clues

My daughter loves "Skinnamarink TV", done by the venerable Sharon, Louis & Bram. We taped a boatload of episodes when my son was 1, and now I'm glad we did. She loves it! My son loved blues clues, but he's graduated into: Dragonball Z, Samurai Jack, Transformers, and loves the movies: The...

"Speaker in Dreams" is one of the twinkiest adventures ever written

Yep, you've hit the nail on the head. I have no doubt this would have been the reaction of my group, too. Hey, if some of you like this kind of thing, then more power to you. My players would look pretty queerly at me if I threw this adventure at them as written. In the Adventure Backround...

"Speaker in Dreams" is one of the twinkiest adventures ever written

It's not an indictment of high magic, per se, SHARK. My rant was more aimed at the goofiness of the adventure. High magic is not inherently bad. It's just that if characters get too much too early, there is nothing left for when they hit their stride in the higher levels. ("Oh what's this - a +4...

"Speaker in Dreams" is one of the twinkiest adventures ever written

Well, IMHO, it doesn't take a good deal of creativity to throw a bunch of outlandish monsters at the PC's. Fiendish Dinosaurs? Come on! I guess I am biased in that my campaigns are always very humanocentric, where creatures are something to be wondered and dreaded. In modules like this, everyone...

"Speaker in Dreams" is one of the twinkiest adventures ever written

I was looking for a good adventure to take my group through, when, perusing my library of adventures, I came upon "Speaker in Dreams". I remembered getting it when it first came out, but assumed that the reason I couldn't use it back then was because my players were not the right level. Wrong...

Which adventures from Dungeon Magazine have you used since it went 3E?

I think Rana Mor is one of the best adventures to ever hit the pages of Dungeon. Very exotic in feel and an absolute treat to run. Eric - I placed the Rangkas "across the sea" in my adventure, requiring a 4 week journey by boat. Almost like a "New World", so to speak, with the descendants of...

Have you ever gotten into a fight on game night?

That is an awesome story! The legend continues to grow. :) Incidentally, Cardinal, I didn't know you and the Chairman went to PSU. My wife is a PSU graduate, and technically, so am I - though I went to the Behrend Campus in Erie (she went to main campus '86-90). I've been down to visit a...

Have you ever gotten into a fight on game night?

One of the painful lessons of life - despite all of the crying on your shoulder, 9 times out of 10, women go back to jerks like that. I've given up having sympathy for those women, having been burned too many times as the "nice guy" that they could talk to. That was a good story, though. What...

Have you ever gotten into a fight on game night?

Just after I started cruising this site, coming up on 2 years now, there was a really funny thread started by Sir B________ (I can't remember the rest of his name! :( ). It was one of the most enjoyable threads I've ever seen here. Stories about crybaby munchkins getting slapped and then bawling...

In light of recent events by Avalanche Press (Company bashing not desired)

I have a question that may or may not be relevent. If a reviewer here or at another place gives a product a negative review, why don't they send it back to the publisher? If you have no use for it (based on the review), is it not ethical, then, for you to go ahead and send it back? Or is the...

(completely OT) I finally got a console, PS2, and I have no idea what to get for it.

Definitely get Onimusha:Warlords. You should be able to get it for 19.99 now, as its sequel has just come out. It is highly addictive, and is a “Resident Evil” type game in which you play a samurai killing demons and sucking soul energy out of them which you use to power up your weapons, etc...

    Who Was Your Favorite NPC?

don't ask me why, but that just reminded my of "Professor Little-Old-Man" (Lilloman!) from the classic Mel Brooks movie "High Anxiety". Carry on, nothing more to see here...:)

    Who Was Your Favorite NPC?

My favorite NPC was Aaron Vaumel, Governier of Mieres in my Birthright campaign. He was based lock, stock and barrel on Larry Flynt, of Hustler Magazine. Complete with hard-to-understand drawel and archaic wheelchair. I think my players got as much a kick interacting with him as I did playing him.

    Who is Blackleaf?

i emailed them once, not because of the now famous/infamous "dark dungeons", but some tripe about the jesuits and their connection to the nazis. they got hitler's date of death wrong, so i emailed telling them. they were very friendly in their response, i should add.

    (OT)Transformers

i guess it was the bit of cheesiness that put prime's "death" behind starscream's. that, and the fact that AT THE END OF THE MOVIE THEY ANNOUNCED OPTIMUS WOULD RETURN!!!! it kind of takes the steam out of someone's death when, well, they're not really dead. starscream, however, has remained...

    (OT)Transformers

my one friend loves starscream - i always thought his continued sparring with megs was one of the great things about the show. starscream had probably THE best death scene of any transformer when galvatron incinerated him in the movie. and yes, that cobra commander voice - how could we forget...
