Whisky for my men, beer for my horses!

Speaking of "over the hill(s) and far away", the following was based on a traditional tune and used for the series "Sharpe's Rifles", based on the series of novels set during the Napoleonic Wars by Bernard Cornwall about Richard Sharpe, a common soldier field-promoted to officer for saving the...

Whisky for my men, beer for my horses!

W00t! Haven't heard "Reynardine" in ages, but now I have it threading through the murky pathways of my brain. A Man You Don't Meet Every Day (The Pogue's version) Oh my name is Jock Stewart I'm a canny gun man And a roving young fellow I've been So be easy and free when you're drinking with...

Whisky for my men, beer for my horses!

Here's a few Kris Kristofferson songs that seem appropriate: The Sabre And The Rose Feet hit the ground; feet leaving town Quicker than a bullet or a knife Falling ain't no fun when you're on the run Honey we was runnin' for our life When Stagger Lee had drunk his fill of moonlight He turned...

    I hate cat-people, dog-people, lion-people, etc

+50 Rep. You rawk. Me, I love anthropomorphics -- but I'm also a fan of the Old Skool Pulp SF/Fantasy (al la Flash Gordon)where the Aliens/Mysterious Race Of The Week would be Dog-Men, Cat-Men, Parrot-Men, Squid-Men, Horned Ape-Men, etcetera. I RP some anthro PCs and NPCs (Tabaxi & Giff...

When PCs clash ... to the death

If the two players want their PCs to go into the arena, cool. Even if they don't, cool; there are countless stories in literature, film, TV, etc, that has friends pitted against one another by meciless Fate. If they kill each other, though, that's fewer for the DM; where's the fun in that?

    I've figured it out.

We played a 1e/2e hybrid game; things we liked from 1e we kept (most spells, some classes, the half-orc, etc) and delighted in the new that made sense to us (such as the Bard, frex) and we threw ourselves into the "splatbooks" (what a wretched term) with wild orgiastic abandon, again, snagging...

What was the first monster you killed in D&D?

I'm sorely tempted to start the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Carrion Crawlers...

    Why no psionic healing abilities?

Feh. I love Cell Adjustment far too Belgiuming well to give it up, which is one reason why I still use mostly 2e Psionics.

What was the first monster you killed in D&D?

The first thing I recall killing was...troglodytes. In the first games that I played in high school (24 or so years ago), the DM had us adventuring in a city...sorta. Apparently the city had been rebuilt many times over the ages, and there were prime dungeons down deep underneath everything...

    Your homebrew - how big?

Roughly? A Metric Buttload of pages, handwritten and typed, in binders, loose folders, accordion folders, spiral-bound notebooks and stuffed in boxes. That translates to hundreds and hundreds of pages of setting, tweaks, NPCs, monsters, custom races, spells and scenario ideas.

What to do when the PC Rogue picks the pockets of the other PCs

Yeah, murder or crippling is always the best response to having your pocket picked.

Which magic weapon would you pick?

My favorite has always been the Bow; as versatile as Green Lantern's ring, it was. And I don't give a rat's ass what anyone says, Uni was a pretty cool li'l unicorn, even if she was drawn in too much of a My Little Ponies fashion.

Wizards - getting caught with the wrong spells prepared

Just to be an annoying echo: Scrolls are your friend: I usually have several scrolls of various non-combat spells with me at all times -- yeah, there are costs to making scrolls but they will save your ass. Wands, staves, et cetera; good to make, collect and have on-hand; my favorite...

    Your Favorite Fake Sci-Fi Profanity

"It's High Adventure with the Pirates of Dark Water!" Twist my soul in the Abyss, I loved that jetatin show. I would commit crimes against the laws of Mer and Man to have a follow-up to the series that resolved the storyline.

I alter, tweak, fold, spindle, mutilate, pound, kick, smash, break, beat, whip, blend, and puree my gaming stuff.
