Exclusive interview WotC President Greg Leeds

Sigh... While I am not happy about not being able to buy older edition PDFs at the moment, I understand where WOTC is coming from on this. I suppose I'll have to spend more money on eBay for this stuff. The good news is I had already downloaded or bought a hard copy of most of the GH /...

    Gnomes and 4E

My primary character for all editions to this point has been a gnome illusionist. I don't know how it ended up that way, but it's almost become an inside joke with my groups. My first 1E character (a plane-hopping CN gnome illusionist 18) tends to make a cameo as an NPC in most of my DM'd...

    Gnomes and 4E

I hope not. What a lame, cryptic name for what once was a signature class. Plus, the 3E illusionist was simply a wizard with an extra spell a level; I don't think anyone else I gamed with ever played one other than me. I'll give the class a chance, however. At the risk of sounding...

    Gnomes and 4E

Just something I've noticed with some of the low level published adventures is having a number of gnomes (still unaligned apparently) as bad guys in the adventures. Has anyone else noticed this phenomenon? I haven't seen this many gnomes as bad guys since the last time I played NetHack. ;)...

    Best 3.5 Adventure?

Great adventures: The Sunless Citadel - Just in case you haven't ran it... The Mad God's Key (Dungeon) was freaking awesome. The Harrowing (Dungeon) - Evil Greyhawky type Drow goodness no Drizzt clones arround Raiders of Galath's Roost (Dungeon) - also awesome. Nothing like beating down some...

    Mother of All Encounter Tables

I have it and use it from time to time if players go somewhere I had not forseen. If it comes up with a monster from the CC that I don't want to use, I figure something from the MM2-4 or FF that will fit. I also *like* that the encounter table is not split by EL. If you want to go play in the...

Looking for Elminster's 3.5 statblock for conversion

They aren't printed. The last update was the 3.0 version in the ELH. However, I am sure you could use that and make only minor changes (since Wizard and Archmage didn't really change a whole lot).

    Your favourite non-core spells?

Some other good ones: Scorch (Aganazzar's Scorcher) (SC, FR) is probably one of the only 2nd level damage spells worth using. Wrack (BoVD) was a freaking awesome spell for evil NPC clerics (IMHO) especially when it was 3rd level. SD changed it to 4th but it's still a good spell. Wait for a...

Have you ever seen a wizard not maxed out?

Actually, I often will only start with about 16 in INT. If you think about it, by the time you reach high levels, you will have moved your INT up to 19 or more by a) putting your ability increases in INT b) getting a nifty headband (or ioun stone) sometime in that career.

A Knight in Ptolus - options?

One of my characters in my Ptolus campaign is a knight. Since the Mounted Combat doesn't really fit with the urban setting, does anybody have any ideas on a replacement ability? Should I just give him a bonus feat? I don't really want to stick him with something he won't really use. The...

Which Is The Stronger Character Class - Sorcerer or Wizard?

Buy the Spell Compendium, and he'll change his mind. Don't even get me started on if a wizard starts taking exaulted spells (BoED) or vile ones (BoVD). Also, wizards get the next level spell faster. And their extra feats means that a wizard is more useful than a straight sorcerer at high...

Help me decide on my new campaign!

Well I'm pretty cool with anything. The players are a mix. Most are up for anything. If they do anything poorly, it's conserve resources. They used to be the kings of the 15 minute "D&D" day (eg, clear a few rooms, rest, rinse, and repeat) until I started making that strategy backfire. I'm...

Help me decide on my new campaign!

Well, here's the thing. I have a new game starting next week. I have not completely decided what to run yet. Now, the problem is a lot of us are busy, so it won't be on a weekly basis. I'm hoping for twice a month, but it will be somewhat irregular. So I need something that will be wasy to...

    Campaigns in the near future?

I'm not sure yet... I haven't decided. But I'm leaning towards Ptolus.

    TSR Q&A with Gary Gygax

Yes, unfortunately it is quite common for people to get it as they get older. I am young, but I have a recurring case of it that shows up on my back. My case is mild, but it sucks big time. :\

Dungeon #114 - Mad God's Key (spoilers likely)

Awesome I really enjoyed running this adventure. We were able to get through it in one long session. We also had two brand new characters go down to swarms (one to the spider swarm in the gang's house, and one to the crypt rat swarm in the cave). The chase scene was a nice change of pace...

    Shemeska's Planescape Storyhour (Updated 29 Jan 2014)

Just a shameless bump and props for the story hour... Shemmy, just wanted to give the story a little bump. The story hour still rocks. Hope the 9-5 isn't kicking you butt too much. It is definately a change after college (where the is a lot of work to do but you usually choose when to do it...

    Gnome haters? It's Lockwood's fault!

Gnomes rock! :D Maybe I'm weird, but I have played ALOT of gnomes. Almost always a gnome illusionist, but I have played many gnomes. I've gone more with the dragonlance style personality, myself. But I think that they get the shaft because they aren't a powergamer's choice for anything...

Healing Constitution Damage and Hit Points

Yes, when a ch rages they get extra hp from their CON modifier. OTOH, when it ends, they lose them at the end of the rage, they lose them (and can die).
