Question for those who played the "Baldur's Gate" cRPGs (spoilers)

How I would handle it: I'd use two optional rules, one of which would be tweaked. One would be bloodlines, with the other being reducing level adjustments. Rather than using the Bloodlines as-written, I'd use them but call them inherited templates with a +LA value equal to the number of...

    Newbie Character Advice: Paladin

Is this a big mistake, or just not super efficient? Because I don't mind not doing WW smites. I just thought WWA would be fun. I guess I'm wondering whether this is a mistake I should consider asking the DM to let me respec for or whether slogging through to WWA is still viable. Mithril...

    Newbie Character Advice: Paladin

Well I went ahead and got Dodge, and figure I'll probably still go up toward Whirlwind Attack. I mean, why not? BTW, does anyone know if there's a way to change your familiar from a heavy warhorse to something else (like a hippogryph or sommat) later on, or would that require burning a feat I...

    Core Rogue Build

I'm no expert like the optimizer folks, but I gotta say that an elf rogue is a lot of fun. You get that automatic search check for secret doors, a virtual Alertness Feat, the ability to see in the dark (sorta), long sword and bow proficiency (TWF with longsword and shortsword for your rogue is...

    So many conflicting opinions.

Certain basic feats that should exist (IYO) but don't

PrCs are optional anyway, so I have no desire to see core design based around them.

    Newbie Character Advice: Paladin

Thing is, Whirlwind Attack's going to be much further on, so there's a long wait involved. Most campaigns don't even hit level 20, do they? Still and all, it sounded cool at the time. And I make no bones about being a newbie. :o

    Newbie Character Advice: Paladin

We rolled up stats using 4d6-drop lowest, with two sets. (i.e. roll 12 times, the last six rolls being a second "set"). I got a lucky roll on my first set, so didn't use the second. I was extremely happy with the results. ^_^ So Spring Attack is unusual for a Pally? Hmm, I did think it...

    Newbie Character Advice: Paladin

I haven't played a lot of D&D, so I was hoping folks could give my character the ol' hairy eyeball and maybe offer suggestions and whatnot. She's a paladin (first time playing one) and our party's a bit undersized. We've got me, a Druid, and a Bard. We've compensated by getting a "Cleric in a...

What is the easiest way to get Awesome Blow as a PC?

First, go down to Studio 64. Second, know your dealer... ...what?! I can't have been the only one thinking it. :p

Feats for a 1st Level Wizard

Yeah, seems kind of a waste to use two feats to "cast any spell in your book" since you can do so anyway with just fifteen minutes of prep work (for that occasional non-combat utility spell). Moreover, scrolls are awesome. Check out the costs: 12gp, 5sp + 1 xp for a first level spell scroll...

Are Druids regarded as the most powerful class in 3.5?

That's the way we're playing it, yes. I doubt it. I don't think that a warhorse (celestial or otherwise) has a HD Size progression. Same as if a Druid took a Dire Wolf later on. They don't grow larger than Large. Ah. Figures. *grumble* Hmm, though of course this just means a Druid can...

Feats for a 1st Level Wizard

True, Combat Casting's a big old dud. Better to take Skill Focus (Craft Alchemy) instead. :)

Are Druids regarded as the most powerful class in 3.5?

Exactly. There's textual evidence to play it either way (that "may" is a fair point). Mind you, I wasn't complaining about the pseudo-dire wolf we had in the party. We've an undersized party at 3 players and an additional front-line fighter is a welcome addition. :)

Are Druids regarded as the most powerful class in 3.5?

Reference, please? We hunted, and the only rule we could find is that when monsters gain HD commensurate with their new size category, they grow into the new size category. The Animal Companion write-up and the MM both had no special exception text.
