WotC Mike Mearls: "D&D Is Uncool Again"

I haven't seen too much of this on Enworld. I think there are a lot of people who don't have much experience with other games, and when we start talking about stuff like "The Conversation" it tends to have smaller groups responding. A couple of times when I've been discussing "play to find out"...

Wizards of the Coast Is Hiring a D&D Worldbuilder

I wonder what kind of world building WotC is interested in doing. It will be really interesting to see where this goes and if they can build something new that fits into the game that D&D has become.

    Second person plural pronoun

I am very much not a Southerner, being from Wisconsin, but I have used "all y'all" in spoken conversation, and it works at the right moment. I wouldn't use it in written form unless I was writing fiction. And since I have enough friends from the south, they feel like they can make fun of me for...

    Second person plural pronoun

All your seats at the table.
  5. SteveC

    Second person plural pronoun

This is in my bailiwick but the thing I am wondering is why you'd need to do this. Perhaps you could give an example of what you'd want to convey with this. Honestly, I wouldn't use any of those options. I'd be glad to help but I'd say that you can be used both in the singular and plural sense...

    D&D 5E (2024) Monster Manual Organisation

I think you just answered your own question. You don't see this problem in a digital presentation. If I need to drop in a monster for an encounter that I'm creating on the fly, I have an indexed search option that I can use which makes it not an issue. If I'm at a table and need to find...

    D&D 5E (2024) Monster Manual Organisation

As I'm thinking about this, I'm shaking my head. On a book like this, how many people are involved? No one thought about consistently placing creatures based on name? If I had to do a top ten list of things people have argued about with previous Monster Manuals, this would be easily in the top...

Project Sigil Sigil, WotC 3D vtt game automation no more?

I think this is a really important point and one that people who don't play with a VTT may not understand. I play in Pathfinder, which is a rules-heavy system with a lot of bells and whistles. The automation in my VTT makes it much easier to play. It lets me concentrate on engaging with my...

Project Sigil Sigil, WotC 3D vtt game automation no more?

This is a really good question, and I can only answer it for me. I want the VTT to automate in-game stuff. I'm not one who wants to see a fireball explode in animation or have a sword swing with a "wooosh" sound, although you can do that with most VTTs. That's something I don't care about. What...

Project Sigil Sigil, WotC 3D vtt game automation no more?

That's been the message for pretty much the entire cycle of product development for this edition. Books and physical products aren't going to move D&D into that billion dollar a year business that WotC wants it to be: it will be online sales and transactions that could do it. The move to online...

WotC Mike Mearls: "D&D Is Uncool Again"

When did all this change in the perception of 5.5E happen? I mean, it seems like not long ago that talk of being not impressed by the new books and not seeing a lot of enthusiasm for it was met with "This is the greatest, fastest-selling edition ever!" I'm dating myself as older, but I'm...

Project Sigil Sigil, WotC 3D vtt game automation no more?

Well, I guess I'm expecting them to be past Alpha stage at this point. I mean, the 50th anniversary was last year. There will most likely never be more interest in 5.5E than back then, so not having the product they are basing the entire edition on until late 2025 or 2026 is ... well, I guess...

Project Sigil Sigil, WotC 3D vtt game automation no more?

It sounds like they are having problems with the automation, which isn't surprising. If the goal of this project is to make this the default style of play for the game, you're going to need them. If you compare this to Foundry, which has very strong automation in D&D (and near 100% automation...

The D&D 4th edition Rennaissaince: A look into the history of the edition, its flaws and its merits

The multiclass system in 4E is something that I think there can be some legitimate discussion on. I didn't see it used very often and I don't think it was really updated (outside of Gestalt characters). I think the "archetypes" from PF2 are a good development from that initial idea.

The D&D 4th edition Rennaissaince: A look into the history of the edition, its flaws and its merits

If you're interested in seeing what 4E could have become, I would check out the Strike! game. With a huge caveat: the production on the game is likely to put a lot of people off. It uses a lot of 4E with AEDU powers, but also uses a D6 to resolve actions, similar to the Blades in the Dark...

The D&D 4th edition Rennaissaince: A look into the history of the edition, its flaws and its merits

Oh sure. It's just that there are thousands of powers and feats to program and there's no way I'd have the time or ability to do that. I would definitely pay for it, but I think that would be a small enough market that it wouldn't be worth it for a developer.

The D&D 4th edition Rennaissaince: A look into the history of the edition, its flaws and its merits

That's true, but people rarely have as strong a negative opinion about 3X as 4E. I played a lot of 3x and, after my last game of it, vowed never to play high-level versions of it again. But there are a ton of people who still play it or Pathfinder 1E, so my Event Horizon level discussion of 3X...

The D&D 4th edition Rennaissaince: A look into the history of the edition, its flaws and its merits

Great Caesar's Ghost! Here we go again with the same old discussions about 4E over ten years after it was finished. I am really glad to still see interest in 4E after all this time, since it was my jam at the time and I'd much prefer it to 5E. I'd love to see the option to play on current VTTs...

    Pathfinder 2E Foundry

While I've considered it, I don't. I use Ripper93's content that's non-commercial. I've looked at the other stuff and, right now, I don't see it. Now I have bought a fair number of modules from companies for both Pathfinder and D&D. I've found that to be worthwhile.

Dungeons & Dragons Comments On Possibility of Future Movie Projects

I have a friend who has a basement movie room setup that's out of this world. He did a showing of the movie with our gaming friends who have sort of stepped away from gaming in the last few years. They loved it. When we asked them why they didn't see it already, it was largely related to WotC's...
