I'm going to make a "Tome of Battle" character. Swordsage? Warblade? Advice?

If the game ends at 5th level, you want to be single classed to get that 3rd level maneuver. Especially if a Warblade or Crusader, as that manuever can be White Raven Tactics. The only crappy thing is due to both of those classes having messed up stance progressions, you'll never get to enjoy...

    UC: Ragechemist Clarification

The numbers are instead of, not on top of, what a normal mutagen would grant. And please do not play the Comatose Chemist. Unless you like spending an hour or two comatose after every ~6 combat rounds.

    Dual Shield Ranger build help

Sounds cool. I definitely would be open to more kinds of shields if your DM / rules allow. Bladed shields (sharp on the edges and/or with strips of razor-like blades running down the front of it) would be awesome. Not sure a throwing returning shield screaming Cap. is a bad thing, but plenty...

    Combining Gestalt and E6

I've considered doing Gestalt E6 for my next game, actually seems like a great pairing. You get the versatility of gestalt, but cut out the leveling before too many spells and temporary bonuses and other crap starts flying around that makes higher level gestalt play long and complicated. Only...

Pathfinder 1E What would be a good "Pathfinder Bonus" for a Swordsage?

The tripper isn't investing skill points each level to boost his CMB, either. But I'm glad you're happy with your DM's tumble rules. I just wish people would stop thinking the ability to move in and out of melee to skirmish = auto winning a fight.

    D&D 3.x Adding taunt/threat mechanics to 3.5e

Goad sucks, it's a move action that has to be used on an adjacent foe, and the save DC isn't high enough to be reliable and duration is just a round. So enemy's trading full attacks for your standards, and by the odds, there's still a near guarantee it will fail every 2 or 3 rounds anyway...

    Miss chance on confirmation rolls

My group has 2 houserules related to that: If you confirm a crit but fail miss chance, you can reroll the miss chance to get a normal hit. If you use a weapon-like spell and confirm a crit but fail to overcome SR, you can try the SR roll again to do damage as if it were a normal hit. They're...

Pathfinder 1E What would be a good "Pathfinder Bonus" for a Swordsage?

You should not need skill focus to be near auto-succeeding on it at level 20. But yes, I said all those changes would probably make it work alright, and it seems to. So...good. If you went the more simplistic "tumble defense" route, I suggest making it "BAB or CR, whichever is lower." So a...

    Move and full attack

My only issue is that ranged characters would need some MAJOR boosts to make up for this, you're basically giving away the only real advantage ranged attackers have to everybody. Not provoking for shooting/throwing, power attack applying to ranged attacks (at a 2-for-1 rate) to make up for...

    Miss chance on confirmation rolls

No. The attack has already pierced the concealment, it's still the same attack. I have no rules cite either, just relying on common sense / game balance (concealment is already pretty darn good, better than AC, often times).

quick and easy edition question (i hope)

    1. AD&D 2E. First time playing, the DM thought you rolled a d20 to determine stats and THAC0, I ended up playing at 1st level w/ THAC0 of 5. 2&3: Covered.

Pathfinder 1E What would be a good "Pathfinder Bonus" for a Swordsage?

If big monsters had the size bonus reversed, AND you got +1/2 level to tumble as blargney suggested, AND you invested in Skill Focus and/or the boots... I suppose tumbling would be ok. I'd hope so, after all that help... It needs to be automatic or VERY HIGH success rate for it to not just be...

    Dual Shield Ranger build help

Hadn't seen two shield fighting before. That's a pretty sweet 3rd party feat, if you can get it allowed. And that's a good point, milo. If you don't mind not using two shields till 6th level, you could actually skip out on TWF to ease the initial feat burden. It is eventually useful as a...

Reach Weapons, Readying and Attacks of Opportunity

PF's solution to that discrepency across the board has been "restrict, restrict, restrict! the players' access to monster stuff!" Whether it's polymorph effects no longer turning you into a creature; animal companions not actually being...the animals but with different stats entirely, or PFS...

Reach Weapons, Readying and Attacks of Opportunity

You are aware that, as with many noncaster feats, Stand Still had the bejesus nerfed out of it, right? It now only works on foes that leave adjacent squares. What you're thinking of is now the province of the Pin Down feat, which requires 11 levels of Fighter to obtain.

    Dual Shield Ranger build help

Eh, the two size increases together allow you, at some cost in enhancement bonus, to get a 2d6 one handed weapon with a 20/x2 crit and no other special properties like trip or disarm. It's not that bad. Systole: You should fix the link. I don't know where it was said off-hand, but I know ofr...

Pathfinder 1E What would be a good "Pathfinder Bonus" for a Swordsage?

The ability to use 3E Tumble DCs. Swordsage is a skirmisher class, they really can't do the fight toe to toe thing that well, nor were they meant to. But PF's DCs mean even with heavy investment, you'll fail half the rolls, which means the enemy is attacking your d8 HD medium BAB light armored...
