D&D 5E (2024) What is your preferred naming for the 2014 and 2024 versions of D&D?

I like the 5.5e term for discussing in forums but in general conversations everyone I've talked with just calls it "new books" vs "old books"

    D&D 5E (2024) How you going to roll... 5.24 into your game(s)?

Is it? There are tons of places to look up the current rules now, that can't all be piracy right? I actually don't know

    D&D 5E (2024) How you going to roll... 5.24 into your game(s)?

Can't you just look it up online? There's no reason you need the actual books to play unless that's just a purchase that you want to make

    D&D 5E (2024) How you going to roll... 5.24 into your game(s)?

For the campaign I'm playing in, the DM has been winding up the story so we'll be in a good spot to wrap up once the new rules come out, and start a new campaign with entirely the new rules (plus his homebrew mods). For the campaign I'm (going to be) running, I'm waiting to start until the new...

D&D 5E (2024) What happened to proficiency bonus times per day?

I only know 5e, but multiclass characters are vastly superior to straight class characters in terms of damage done. The only time it ever makes sense to stick with one class is for casters who want high level spells since these do scale in power, unlike class abilities. For Martial...

D&D 5E (2024) What happened to proficiency bonus times per day?

That's not really an unpopular opinion. Even among people who extensively multiclass (like myself) there are many that think the game would be better without it. It's actually really easy to fix, they need to buff the high level class abilities so that sticking with one class actually matters...

D&D General Defining "New School" Play (+)

Does anyone actually play with recovering arrows as a thing? I've always just seen DMs say that nonmagical ammunition is infinite because it's so cheap that no one is going to bother tracking how many you have, and then magical ammunition is consumable on use.

D&D 5E (2024) WotC has called the new ruleset 5.2. Why don't we?

I like 5.2, it's shorter to say than every other term proposed thus far. No one has ever referred to DnD editions by the SRD number though, so I'm not sure it's going to catch on

    D&D 5E (2024) Playstyle Changes from 5E to 5.5E?

They really aren't though, now they are just an aura. Their damage is now mediocre, support is poor other than the OP aura, and they would make good tanks except that tanking isn't actually a thing in DnD. They are being nerfed into oblivion and once people start converting to 5.5e, Paladins...

    D&D 5E (2024) Playstyle Changes from 5E to 5.5E?

Well only Paladins are being nerfed into oblivion, since if you nerf OP spells then casters still get to just pick other ones instead. But yeah there will be nerfs other than just Paladins

D&D General Defining "New School" Play (+)

Yeah that's what he does in every one of these (+) threads, he makes absurd claims about new school players that don't resemble reality, then claims to be positively contributing by just "pointing out differences between playstyles" (his playstyle and the nonexistent ones he makes up). All you...

D&D 5E (2024) Which Setting Featured Already in 5E Do You Want a New Supplement For?

Wish I could vote for more than just one, I went with Radiant Citadel but would also love Nine Hells, Planescape, or Spelljammer Looks like basically everything they've been publishing recently, I want them to publish more of the same topic because it was cool but rushed/insufficient...

    D&D 5E (2024) Playstyle Changes from 5E to 5.5E?

They did already nerf many of the most egregiously overpowered spells in the UA, so some amount spell weakening is likely coming. They can't just handle everything thru nerfs though if they're trying to pretend like 2014 and 2024 characters can co-exist. If you nerf everything then everyone...

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook Reveal #3: "New Paladin"

Nerfing Divine Smite to only once per turn is like being cut off by the bartender - completely warranted and everyone who isn't drunk saw it coming a mile away. Making it counterspellable and requiring a bonus action is like being thrown in prison for a DUI even though you walked to the bar -...

D&D General Defining "New School" Play (+)

Come on man don't exaggerate, he never said you can roll a die and all your problems are solved - he has been very clear that in NS games the player just narrates how they solved the problem and the DM is forced to go along with it no matter how absurd it is, no rolling is required!

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook Reveal #3: "New Paladin"

I've literally never not once in my life seen a DnD adventuring day with 15 combat rounds in it. I do agree with you that WotC designed the game around this playstyle, but it's one of the most glaring reasons for game imbalance, because almost no one plays that way.

    D&D 5E (2024) Youtube Reveal: Tieflings

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024+ Monster Statblock options

If you move the Challenge Rating up to the top in bigger font then you get my vote. Otherwise they're identical to me I don't care about the color

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook Reveal #3: "New Paladin"

I don't think the video mentioned this, but in the UA Playtest it did not* so it seems safe to assume they would've mentioned this if it changed *Banishing Smite and Shining Smite did require concentration but this was related to keeping up the the debuff that you apply

    D&D 5E (2024) Heroic Inspiration and Humans

Yeah it really doesn't add any time as long as the player rolls the die and then decides to reroll it before telling the DM what they rolled. What slows the game down is things like Silvery Barbs where you react to someone else's roll that they've announced and the DM has already started...
