    AD&D 1E The indispensible 1e

It's not more effective, due to the AC difference between Plate mail (3) and Naked (10). The +2 bonus to hit plate, is because the f. flail supposedly negates or bypasses certain characteristics of Plate mail, which normally grant added protection. The -1 against a naked man... I can only...

D&D 5E (2014) Monte Cook Leaves WotC - No Longer working on D&D Next [updated]

The Wii has a problem in that its game library is more geared toward younger children and families, than pre-teen, teen and adult gamers. My little boy loves his Wii. Give him another couple of years, though and he'll be asking for a PS3.

    D&D 5E (2014) 5E: Is it possible?

Just a quick point. Clones and near clones make up a rather small percentage, of the total for-pay OSR products available. 10%, perhaps, if you count every little homebrewed ruleset on Lulu, that most people have never even heard of. edit: A year ago, I stopped counting the number of non-clone...

    D&D 5E (2014) 5E: Is it possible?

Your last two sentences strike me as laughably arrogant. Most of us buy and play the games we like. But, at least I know where you're coming from now.

    D&D 5E (2014) 5E: Is it possible?

Didn't say it wasn't. You didn't say it very clearly, though, so I reiterated. No. I've spoken with "numerous" such folk. I'm not guessing. You may accuse me, or them, of lying, if you wish. Do I really have to spell out the obvious, here? Ok. That's an awefully small sampling, for the...

    D&D 5E (2014) 5E: Is it possible?

The five items listed above consisted of both adventure modules and 2nd wave clone rule-sets. There are numerous "OSR" consumers, who have 3.x sitting on their shelf. Some even have 4e. Many have Warhammer, Runequest, Dark Heresy, Barbarians of Lemuria, etc. A lot of OSR bloggers are looking...

    D&D 5E (2014) 5E: Is it possible?

Yeah, no ones spending any money on old edition stuff: Dwimmermount: An Old School Fantasy RPG Megadungeon by Autarch — Kickstarter Player's Companion for the Adventurer Conqueror King RPG by Autarch — Kickstarter The Monolith from beyond Space and Time plus The God that Crawls -- Indiegogo...

    D&D 5E (2014) 5E: Is it possible?

There's a ton of new support material being published for every previous edition (except 2nd and its compatible enough with the earlier stuff that it's not much of an issue.)

    D&D 3.5 Reprints in September?

The 3.5 aftermarket is its own beast, in this regard and isn't being driven by "collectors." There's no question of rarity. There are many auctions, every week for the core 3.5 material (as well as splats, etc.) Those auctions consistently rock toast and have been doing so, for a long time...

    D&D 3.5 Reprints in September?

The 3.5 PH averaged roughly $35 last week on ebay. Maybe 15 listings? I sold a set of all three core a couple of weeks ago, for $75, which is on the low end of average. I've been keeping an eye on the 3.5 aftermarket for about a year now. It's rocking!

    D&D 3.5 Reprints in September?

Someone at Board Game Geek is reporting that the Dungeon reprint listed on Amazon is a hoax, per WotC: New edition? [Edit: Fake] | Dungeon | BoardGameGeek If so, then the B&N 3.5 listings could be a result of hacking, as well. That would explain the Provolone entry.

    D&D 3.5 Reprints in September?

Joe Bloch had an interesting take on this: Greyhawk Grognard: Is "Provolone" D&D Next? Seems too early, but its possible WotC is tentatively planning on rushing this thing out the door and the B&N entries are Placeholders, using code to disguise that fact. Could a rushed release be what...

    D&D 5E (2014) Innovations I'd like to keep in 5E

And they don't make sense because... why? You don't understand them, I suppose. In 3e, a save vs. poison is always Fort. Boring. Limited. In earlier editions, if a pc saves vs. spider poison, maybe he snatched his hand away just in time, or the spider's fangs never penetrated his armor...

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D Next Design Goals (Article)

I choose what I think, rather actively. And told you above, I know why I use the rules I use, when running a campaign. :) Edited to add a smiley face. Not to come off as strident, but honestly, you're starting to sound like you think you know other gamers nervous systems, better than they do.

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D Next Design Goals (Article)

It's really not that simple. There's mechanical, thematic and narrative underpinnings, which, based upon your comment, I assume 4e jettisoned? In 1e, sometimes an MU rolls to attack. Usually, the target rolls to defend. Depends on the spell and ties into various cognitive constructs, some of...

    Classical Mythology RPG?

Mazes & Minotaurs isn't a clone, but it's Old School inspired. AFAIK, it's not OGL either. Totally free, with tons and tons of free support. Great fluff, if you prefer to use a different system.

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D Next Design Goals (Article)

3e multiclassing has some nice, symmetrical points. But, 1e's concurrent leveling worked better. E.G. Fighter/Magic-User. :)

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D Next Design Goals (Article)

This is incorrect. How many years of experience do you have running high level AD&D? Say, levels 12+? Details of your experience? I've provided some of mine, upthread. I'll be happy to elaborate, further.

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D Next Design Goals (Article)

The fighter doesn't need to be able to Dominate, etc. I'll agree that 3.x had some problems in this area, but again, the ungodly number of prestige classes and feats gave him plenty of options, in regards to special powers, etc.
