A New Issue of the Loviatar Fanzine is Available

I've got mine! heh I'll try to review it over the next week, but at fist glance it looks top notch as always.

    AD&D Online

WotC isn't going to embrace PDFs anytime soon. Any solution that requires internet access at the game table is going to fail and I suspect WotC would go that route if your idea in any way resembles their plans. Heck, they cant even get their VTT on the same field as others out there (Fantasy...

    Christmas 2011 RPG Holiday Sales?

I've been running a Free Holiday Swag post almost daily for the last 3 weeks at my blog. Assorted random FREE rpg stuff in PDF. You can either hit the banner below to hit the blog or here for a link that will take you right to the tag. Today's link was for Barbarians of Lemuria

    Christmas 2011 RPG Holiday Sales?

Lamentations of the Flame Princess is running a sale on it's PDF catalogue at RPGNow until Dec 10th - everything in the catalogue is $1.35 each. Highlights in my opinion are Vornheim, LotFP's Weird Fantasy Grindhouse Edition and The Grinding Gear. The other stuff is good too, but these are my...

Designers & Dragons - A History of the Roleplaying Game Industry

I have the PDF. It's an expensive PDF, but worth every penny in my opinion, but I ama history buff in addition to being a gamer. I got into the hobby back in 80/81, so I've found myself trying to figure out what I was doing when certain events were going on. I'm taking my time reading it, as...

    Review: Pathfinder Beginner Box

The Pathfinder Beginner Box is tempting me away from Swords & Wizardry - and that's a big thing to move me from. It is extremely well done and makes the Pathfinder Rules less complex and much easier to understand. I have the 4e Red Box, and to my eyes, it fails compared to the Pathfinder...

    Mallus Rediscovers AD&D

My group just switched (earlier tonight) to a heavily houseruled OD&D game from Tunnels & Trolls - yes, it's an Old School Group, can you tell? I find that the simpler the rules, the less time using the rules and the more time spent playing. You mileage may vary tho ;)

The Design Mechanism and the Future of RuneQuest

Runequest is going the way of D&D it seems. Between RQ6, OpenQuest and whatever Mongoose is calling their next version there should should be a RQ ruleset available as a "living system" for a good long time. I still have my RQ2 hardcover ;)

    Tell me about Savage Worlds

I picked up the new Deluxe rules in PDF and I find them better organized then the previous edition. I also have a hard time "grokking it" coming from my AD&D roots, but I got to sit in on a session and it helped a lot come together. I still need to fully grasp the use of "powers". That hasn't...

Do you use a tablet? Which kind? With what game?

iPad 1 with Goodreader, except in bed. In bed I use a Samsung Galaxy 7", as it's easier to hold while lying on my back with my head propped by a pillow. I probably buy 80% of my RPGs in PDF only these days. Man does it save on space ;)

For Gold & Glory Preview Edition Up

Something else to link to on my blog. More OSR goodness is always good :) edit: Even better, it emulates AD&D 2e - I don't recall another cloning that edition

    New York, New York!

Life long New Yorker, and I know squat about touristy stuff ;) That being said, I have a friend that acts like a life long tourist. I'll see if he has hotel ideas.

Using Mythic Game Master Emulator as a refereeing tool: two actual play examples

Pretty cool write up. I may need to dig out my copy of Mythic RPG and give it another look.

    The Changing Face of Reading

nedjer - you specifically sent me to a windows install. As a former follower of the Church of St. Jobs, and now a convert to the Order of the Holy Apple, I took offense ;) Seriously - yes, I can convert it to a PDF and read it in GoodReader (excellent app - I can mark up my PDFs with it) but...

    The Changing Face of Reading

Swords & Wizardry White Box - A well written ruleset that won't overpower new or casual players. Marketing might be an issue tho. Dragon Age - The RPG from Green Ronin claimed to be aimed at the casual player, but the initial box cuts you off at level 5.

    The Changing Face of Reading

Not gonna work with my iPad, iPhone or MacMini. My PC just boots up for gaming these days, and that's fairly rare. For all of the faults of PDFs, they are system agnostic. HTML is too, but the install program for offline work in this case is not. Thus the disconnect. Your solution (at the...
