    Table of Diagonal Movement Rates?

The formula can be more useful in tracking ariel combat, when there are more directions to move and no squares to count (but D&D's poor support for 3-demensional combat is a whole 'nother topic.)

Harry Potter, D&D, and the children's market

WotC already has D&D books for children, they're just not gaming products. There's "A Practical Guide to Dragons," which even though it doesn't have a D&D logo or mention D&D anywhere on it, is "written" by a kender and is clearly describing D&D style chromatic/metallic dragons. And there's the...

Computers beat up my role player

They aren't wrong. You're insisting on one specific definition of the word vegetable, which in this case doesn't accurately describe how the word is used. Try this definition, for example:

One thing about the sporadic schedule of OotS...

I don't know if they're still up, but there was a string of Oots guest artist strips when Rich took some time off a while back. They were all self-contained, and had nothing to do with overall Oots continuity.

D&D 4E Hypothetical Scenario: What if WotC chooses never to do 4E?

I think that if 4e never came out, the 3.5 books would become increasingly niche, irrelevant, or repetitive to the point that not enough people would buy them to make D&D worthwhile from a business perspective. And the game can only evolve so far without a new edition to codify and organize the...

    Darth Vader: Alignment

I don't think that obeying laws necessarily has anything to do with a lawful alignment. Are devils, the epitome of LE, law abiding citizens? No, they'd break or twist any law they thought they could get away with, even their own, and that doesn't make them chaotic. A lawful alignment implies a...

    Darth Vader: Alignment

You're talking about a youthful Anikan Skywalker, not the adult character most closely identified with the name Darth Vader. The adult Darth Vader displayed no impetuousness, emotional rampages, or random betrayals, and never really lashed out. This is just speculation. You're attributing...

    Darth Vader: Alignment

How does selfishness preclude lawful or chaotic? Are devils and demons selfless? And do a couple of isolated events really trump life-long participation in a highly militarized, tyrannical government? Occam's razor argues for Lawful Evil.

    Darth Vader: Alignment

I think that if Vader, despite the obvious lawful-evil trappings of the empire he represents, can't be classified as Lawful Evil, no one can. It shouldn't be any deeper than that. If you over think the alignment system, you can pretty much assign any alignment to anyone you want.

Excerpt from Monte Cook's World of Darkness in Game Trade Magazine

I really hope this isn't representative of the writing in the book itself.

Perhaps no D&D 4th Edition is Being Planned Yet

I don't know how they could possibly prevent this, whatever definition you use.

Rant: Why must thing always be obvious in D&D?

It doesn't seem like the player is being unreasonable to me. If the temples are so secret that even Shar's followers aren't allowed to know about them, how can the religion exist at all? If I had a PC that was the member of an organization, I'd probably expect that organization to be relevant to...

Perhaps no D&D 4th Edition is Being Planned Yet

I don't have time to dig it up, but haven't WotC staff specifically stated here more than once that the DI isn't going to replace publishing source books?

Help! - Campaign reboot without actual reboot

I think your problem is solved by just continuing with your current plan and sending them to Sigil (via Expedition to the Demonweb pits.) Sigil becomes the new base of operations, and they start off as clueless primes, 9th level or not.

Should D&D Have an Alternate Death Mechanic?

Because death is not the only way to be defeated, and mere survival is not the only measure of success. And in any case, there's more to than game than winning and losing.

What games do Wizards designers play?

Remember that Gleemax isn't a D&D specific site, and D&D is just a part of what WoTC produces. So the responses as a whole don't necessarily mean anything about D&D at all.

Unearthed Arcana - Which rules do you use regularly?

We tried this variant, but it was too difficult to unlearn the standard method, and we gave up halfway through the session.

Unearthed Arcana - Which rules do you use regularly?

I love the Level Independent XP system, and use it for every campaign I run. Other than that, I've used buying off level adjustments, gestalt characters (very briefly, because I hated it,) reserve hit-points, and some of the class variants.

So did I, but now I'm constantly cleaning up after her.
