    Wizard Spell per day?

I think I agree with the side of this debate that believes you can any of your dailies in the prep slots, as long as you don't use the same daily twice. It achieves two changes from past editions: 1. No longer does a wizard have a long list of prepared spells they will never use. Almost every...

Am I missing something? Spellcasters and armor?

Well in 4E we can just have the fighter / paladin switch on Aggro and avoid having the backline get hit... :p

    D&D is Back!

This is pretty much a cut and paste of what so many people posted up here when 3E came out. the difference back then was that only a few people were disagreeing with them. It was a very small minority back then, now, it is a vocal segment, possibly not even a minority. But the parts I have...

    4E is NOT a V3.75!

No... Its more like: that's not how oE, 1E, basic, 2E, 2Er, 3E, or 3.5E did it, nor conceived it. You can only kill so many cows before you need to take down the sign that says 'cattle ranch.'

    Wired Reviews 4e

Which edition of first edition did you play? When I look at my old several hundred page DMG and Player's handbooks with no skills or feats or paths, purely random generation, 36 levels, and 9 alignments, the only thing I see in common in random dungeon generation. Plus, 4E has no: .5 orc...

Dragon/DDI content for the Macintosh crowd?

Funny all this, because I play World of Warcraft on my Mac... I also run Hexagon2 on my Mac for making 3D models... And DazStudio for posing assorted pre built figures... So... I don't get it. And if they want to appeal to the iPod generation, going Windows only, they won't be getting it either.

    Wired Reviews 4e

Since 4E is an offline MMO (MMOff?), its only fitting have an MMO reviewer write the article.

    D&D Insider! UP ! (merged)

On the other hand... the person in my semi-former group whose been pushing 4E keeps sending us URLs that are on the other side of the passwording of Insider... Getting kind of annoying. I already pay for accounts on World of Warcraft and Everquest and City of Heroes... I don't need another MMO...

All Your Lands Are Belong to Us

See I'd flip this... Pull out the MM's racial template in the back of the book... PCs are Orcs, Minotaurs, and anything else that can fit in as a level one toon (cause 4E is an MMO, so we're toons now, not characters, but that's another topic :D)... You're all out there enjoying life in the...

    4th Edition and girls

White Wolf has never actually been a more roleplay intensive design. Its just always had more suggestive to downright nipply artwork and goth chicks in lineart to make people think it was about roleplay...

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

1e, 2e, and 3e: Vancian magic to gimp the casters. Fanbase: Enough with the Vancian already! 4e: Vancian everything to gimp everybody. 1-3E sample fight: Round 1: Fighter: wack, wack wack! Mage: I nuke the universe with a fireball! Round 2: Fighter: wack, wack, wack! Mage: [twiddles thumbs...

Wizards become the "needed" character over Clerics

Somewhat a thread jack but... I'm not convinced 4E has a wizard class. Look at it. Remove the name, and think about what 3E its mechanics remind you of. To me, I thought... Sorcerer. What always made a DnD wizard a wizard in my mind was being able to run out there and learn new spells...

    Fourth Edition just feels... incomplete

And that is a very fair comparison to make. It seems to be falling short here as well... I'd point you to the 1E books and say get a clue, but those had nipples and the wandering harlot table and I was 12 and it was before the internet... so...

Wizards become the "needed" character over Clerics

Why do I play WoW more than I do City of Heroes? Hmm... Because WoW needs healers, and in an MMO, if I'm not on a tank, I want to be on a healer. City of heroes doesn't need healers. Point... Each of the classic roles existed to fill a nitch among different types of players. In my WoW...

    Fourth Edition just feels... incomplete

Well I'd say it seems incomplete... But lets look at my list of PCs since 3E came out... A 1/2 Orc monk An elf Bard A human sorcerer A gnome sorcerer An elf druid A human fighter ... I'm 1/6 on that list. Other than allowing me to make an evil paladin or a wizard that doesn't run out of...

Blog post on the feel of D&D (marmell, reynolds et all)

Word. I skipped 2E for a reason. When 3E came out, it grabbed back a lot of people who had drifted away because it advertised a recapture of all the old gems of 1E, but with a modern gaming engine. D&D without half-Orcs and Monks just isn't D&D... I don't care how silly it is to have Monks...

Blog post on the feel of D&D (marmell, reynolds et all)

For me... dropping half-orcs, gnomes, assassins and monks is pretty much a 'jumped the shark' moment for the game. Adding in several new races and classes that either don't have any history with D&D or debated fairly late into the 3E cycle just puts another shark under Fonzie in that jump...

Wizards of the Coast/Kenzer & Company License Agreements Expiring

making the Kobolds Hermaphrodytes / asexual with some kind of funky reproduction and no concept of a parent just did it in for me. Kobolds were one of the races I was the most excited about in 3e ever since that first WotC module under 3.0, and the race I was most interested in seeing a rich...
