    Expedition to Castle Ravenloft

If you have a hard time believing Strahd would allow the PCs to conduct hit and run tactics, just have Strahd be off on business elsewhere for the first 1-2 incursions. But when he gets back, he's ready to rumble!

Annual Chessex Battlemat Clean Up Reminder

Aren't they the same material as the Chessex battlemats? If so, I'd just use the same method.

Annual Chessex Battlemat Clean Up Reminder

Every year around this time I do some maintenance on my four Chessex Battlemats by cleaning them. What you'll need: - Water - Sponge or shammy (I use a sham-wow like cloth) - Cleaner with vinegar (I use Windex multi-surface cleaner but the key is that it needs to have vinegar in it) Steps...

Dungeons & Dragons #2 out today!

I'm having trouble finding a store that is carrying the line. The store I got #0 and #1 from said they won't be carrying any more. Anyone know when I can pick it up in the Mississauga/Toronto area?

    D&D 3.x Skuz (2E) Conversion to 3.5E?

Anyone know/seen a 3.5 version of the 2E undead Skuz (from MC 11 - Forgotten Realms Monstrous Compendium)?

    D&D Point Card?

Air Miles??? I know people who go to outlandish ends to rack up points. So to say it's punishment for the retailer, sorry, just don't see it.

Paladin of Tyranny Immune to Fear?

A paladin of tyranny (Unearthed Arcana p. 55) has the aura of despair ability that gives enemies within 10 feet a -2 penalty on all saves. The description then says the ability otherwise functions identically to the paladin's aura of courage ability. Aura of Courage (Su): Beginning at 3rd...

    D&D Point Card?

But there's the beauty of it. You don't need to participate! You're going to anyways.

    D&D Point Card?

Insurmountable? They why do we have plenty of point cards out there right now? The point is that no system is foolproof but letting that fact keep you from doing something means a whole lot of things would never get done.

    Crayola Dry Erase Crayons FTW!

I use the Crayola Washable markers and they're great on my Chessex battlemaps. Unlike the water-based overhead pens, the Crayolas don't leave "ghost" marks for colors (e.g., red is really bad) the way overhead pens do. I've been very happy with the Crayola markers and they're also a lot cheaper...

    D&D Point Card?

So I was thinking about Dungeon and Dragon magazine and whether or not they truly were loss-leaders for TSR/WotC (but that's another thread!) and it got me thinking... The mission purpose of WotC seems to be to broaden the fan base by bringing in new players. Nothing new there, I've heard that...

    D&D 3.x Why be a 3.5 fighter?

In our campaign we play feats a little differently. Everyone gets 1 feat per level and then their bonus feats on top of that. Part of it was to power the PCs up due to the difficulty of the campaign and part of it was to make better use of the slew of 3.5 feats out there. It has worked really...

Prestige Classes that Add Int to AC

The Invisible Blade prestige class (Complete Warrior) has an Unfettered Defense ability that allows you to add your Int bonus to AC (unnamed) so long as you are not wearing armor and are armed only with daggers. The Duelist prestige class (DMG) has the Canny Defense ability (below) that seems...

    Dimension Door and Initiative

All players delaying to act at the same time is a good counterbalance but only for a battle in progress. When the party starts delaying outside of the encounter so that they can dimension door into the encounter and immediately all act in sequence, it's broken, IMO.

Need help bringing a dragon cohort into the game

What about a modified familiar pocket spell (Spell Compendium), maybe a higher level version? Or maybe add a focus that expands the size of the pocket?

    Flying?

I remember a rule somewhere that a creature can't fly with natural wings if it's HP drop below 50%, but it might have been 2E. Does anyone know if there are any 3.5E rules that limit flying? I think there's a rule that flying creatures can't have more than light encumbrance but I'm not sure...

    Cheap Mini's: Bucket of Dragons

Quoted for Truth. Also dollar stores. I've supplemented my minis with cheap insects ranging from tiny ants and spiders up to huge sized crabs, spiders, scorpions, etc.

    Dimension Door and Initiative

We just had this happen in our game and we did the same thing. The caster dimension doored the party to where they wanted to be and then they were all momentarily disoriented from the spell but could act on their next turn in the normal initiative order.
