Having trouble finding low level encounters

Those are the first level monsters, for encounters you work with a budget depending on the complexity of the encounter. An average encounter is equal to 100XP per character (for first level). Therefore if you want a first level encounter for 5 players, spend 500 XP as you wish, this includes...

    Ah, very good distinction. Thanks

    Combat Challenge and Opportunity Attack

I'm not sure about this. I asked CustServ if Paladin's Piercing Smite caused a mark that was subject to Divine Challenge, and he said no it did not. Each power's mark is a separate "flavour" of mark.

Blade Sweep balanced? (Level 3 Enc)

Does anyone think that the Barbarian Level 3 Encounter Power "Blade Sweep" is unbalanced, specifically when you have Rageblood Vigor? I think that the power seems balanced except in the Rageblood Vigor case. Seems like a minion sweeper with only one attack roll, since you'd be doing CON MOD dmg...

D&D 4E How does the 4E Barbarian Rage ability work?

I'll have some experiential evidence probably after about a month. My one player is changing his dragonborn fighter to barbarian. He basically had a very barbarian themed character (including only taking hide armor, and using a maul). Next weekend is Thanksgiving, so I won't have session then...

Can you choose to reduce the area of an AE power?

Only thing I know about is "Spell Mastery" the Epic Tier Wizard Feat.

Can you lower your own hitpoints?

You can choose NOT to spend healing surges. I forsee some interesting table discussion when our cleric tells the Dragonborn Barbarian (I allowed him to ret-conn from Fighter since it fit the idea better) she Healing Worded him and he decides NOT to spend a healing surge to say in "bloodied".

D&D 4E How does the 4E Barbarian Rage ability work?

I see the at-will Howling Strike: Hit: 1[W] + 1d6 + STR MOD. This means NO situational requirements, you just do extra damage with it. Odd though that it's the only at will to add damage, I'm suspect you would always choose Howling Strike + 1 other.

D&D 4E How does the 4E Barbarian Rage ability work?

    - persistent status based damage / effects dependent on rage - conditional effects to at -wills and encounter power (howling strike can be used on a charge, charging and using howling strike while raging doesn't provoke OAs) - ??? - profit

    Aasimar?? Half-Orcs??

Shadar-kai in theory can turn into Shades via the template. Which is horrific to think about. Shades are not a true breeding race, merely an applied template now.

switching a versatile weapon between 1h and 2h, what action?

What about making it analogous to stances? Isn't switching / activating a stance a minor action? I conceptually view stances in the same context as weapon position / grips.

How does my dwarf fighter have the lowest ac of my party?

It's difficult to comment without context. One thing I have seen people mistake is double counting their half-level mod. For instance, let's assume a level 2 Rogue with a 20 DEX wearing non-magical leather. It's AC would be 10 + 1 (1/2 Level) + 2 (Leather) + 5 (DEX) = 18 (Two less than my...

How does my dwarf fighter have the lowest ac of my party?

Firstly It's DEX or INT mod for AC. Secondly what level are the PCs? For instance I'm a 2nd Level Warforged Fighter with Shield. My AC is 20 10 + 1 (half level adjust) + 7 (scale) + 2 (shield) Rogues frequently have AC bonuses with respect to OPPORTUNITY ATTACKS, make sure that bonus isn't...

    "Perfect" Fits

    - Warforged are +2 STR / +2 CON. They're the "perfect" fighter fit using axes or hammers. Mix in their racial encounter power and you've got a great tanking fighter.

    Dwarven Fighter Discussion

Dragon Issue #364 has the Warforged treated as a true race including Paragon Paths. I'm currently playing a Hammer + Shield Wielding Warforged Fighter. I like Warforged Tactics feat which grants +1 if any ally is adjacent to the target. Once per encounter they can use "Warforged Resolve" as a...
