FOF has it at a CR 23 AC/DC 23 HP 375 Atk/Prof +15 DPR 186 Atks 5 × 1d6 + 34 This one is CR23, AC 22, HP 346, +15 / +17 to hit, and about 175 dpr (maybe more if that stun bypass comes into effect) That's pretty close to me. I certainly wouldn't change a book over it.

We’re almost certainly not making another book. A good deal of the book isn’t about mechanics at all. A lot of the mechanics are almost certainly still relevant to D&D 2024 and we already know it works with other 5e variants. The CR math would have to change by like 20% to warrant a big change...

CR 1s and 2s in ToV hit hard compared to their CR. It normalizes out across the rest.

The answer isn't to make monsters 50% harder but make the encounter building guidelines 50% higher. High CR monsters, however, could use pretty big buffs. Alternatively, check out the Black Flag / Tales of the Valiant monsters – they hit plenty hard...
