I'm spending some time thinking back over the news and notable products of 2024 and thinking about what I'm looking forward to in 2025.

Here's my list!

What are yours?

Big Things in 2024

  • D&D 2024 Player's Handbook and Dungeon Master's Guide
  • Tales of the Valiant (Adventurer's Guide, Monster Vault, Gamemaster's Guide)
  • Black Flag SRD
  • D&D 2024 on Foundry (and Roll20 and Fantasy Grounds)
  • Shadow of the Weird Wizard
  • D&D Beyond Publishes Third-Party Products Including Lord of the Rings
  • Shadowdark Continues its Popularity
  • City of Arches Kickstarter and PDF release!
  • Lots of words about AI and D&D
  • At WOTC – several layoffs, executive shifts, and a "do you like me" survey that disappears quickly

Looking Forward to 2025

  • Release of the 5.2 SRD
  • 13th Age V2
  • Dolmenwood physical books

13th Age and Nimble excite me for next year, we'll see how I feel about the MM, but I have my doubts I'll love it at this point.

I am interested in Draw Steel (which I've ordered), but I bet my friends and I will never play it.......

I HOPE next year I get out my series of NPC PDFs, but we'll see. I have been posting my many different initiative systems on my blog, but no one seems to be going, so I've stopped for a bit while I transition to writing about caring for aging parent(s) as several people have asked me to start doing that so they can prep.
