D&D 3.x [3.5] Boots of springing and striding.

3.5 is showing that the bonus is an enhancement bonus. Aren't enhancement bonuses gained from magic items, rather than extraordinary abilities? Or is WotC making an exception just to make sure the monk can't use any magic to increase their speed?

    Knowledge (Undead)?

Actually, you can keep Knowledge (Undead) without changing it at all. Just realize that you've chosen a more specialized form of Knowledge (Religion). This means the DC's will be easier when using it to find out about undead, but you can't use it for any of the other aspects of Knowledge...

    Still no Staff of Striking?

Since all a Staff of Striking did was increase melee damage, why not classify it as a magic weapon - a Quarterstaff of Striking? Then you just need to add a mechanic where it gets bonus damage from charges. Quarterstaff of Striking: This +3 quarterstaff has the ability to augment the...

D&D 3.x [3.5] Boots of springing and striding.

Can someone tell me why a barbarian can run faster than a monk, if both are in an antimagic field?

    D&D 3.x [3.5] Stun and Hold

I've been in situations where it was nearly impossible to hit the bad guy (let alone kill him) even when he was stunned. That's one of the reasons why I was thinking about the stun/hold combo.

    Feats for bards ???

If you're focusing on Enchantment spells (the bard has a LOT of them), consider Spell Focus: Enchantment. Sure, it's weaker than the 3.0 version, but enchantment is very dependent on people failing their saves. After all, most enchantment spells have NO effect if you save (unlike Evocation...

    D&D 3.x [3.5] Stun and Hold

Actually, I don't think so. When held, you can still take strictly mental actions. Stun removes that capability, and I think they anticipated that when redesigning the spell. Of course, this means that you're expending significantly more effect on one target...instead of stunning the target...

D&D 3.x [3.5] Help my bard contribute [Thanks guys!]

Well, regarding your template for a single-classed bard, I have a few suggestions on the spell list: 0 - I think you've picked a great selection, here. Lots of utility and flexibility. 1st - Hmm. You've missed the most effective bang for the buck spell...Tasha's Hideous Laughter. Most of the...

    D&D 3.x [3.5] Half-Celestial Changes?

Thanks, Hong. Looks like they got a significant workover. With the +4 level adjustment, they really needed something to compensate for the lower HD. SR and DR fill that role nicely. They also got rid of the total immunity to certain attacks, which needed to happen. Er, they still get the...

D&D 3.x [3.5] What changes to the Ring of Jumping?

I just converted a current NPC in my game to 3.5 - a monk using Oriental Adventures rules. 9th level with 11 ranks of Jump, a 15 Strength (+2), Foot and Fist Mastery (+10 competence bonus), Ring of Improved Jumping (+10 enhancement bonus), Tumble synergy (+2), and 60' move (+12). Total jump...

D&D 3.x [3.5] Help my bard contribute [Thanks guys!]

If you can live one level without Spring Attack, why not go pure Bard? Much better spells, and you can get Spring Attack with your feat at 6th. If you need to break through DR, a Rage spell or Inspire Courage plus a longsword should be sufficient to handle DR 5. Any higher DR would be folly...

    D&D 3.x [3.5] Half-Celestial Changes?

Well, I got my 3.5 PH from Amazon yesterday, but the other two books are still in the possession of UPS (which is closed weekends, so I can't pick them up from the location that they're sitting in - a half-hour drive from my house). I have a Half-Celestial/Half-Human Paladin NPC I need to...

    D&D 3.x [3.5] Stun and Hold

The new Hold Person spell allows a person to save versus its effects each round, but "This is a full-round action that does not provoke attacks of opportunity". So, what happens if the target is stunned (or dazed, for that matter)? Even the lowly Color Spray can keep several 4 HD targets...

    D&D 3.x [3.5] What About Absolute Darkness

It's rather sad when a 1st level spell is a better darkness spell than a 2nd or 3rd level one. Read obscuring mist...

    D&D 3.x [3.5] Rogue's Sneak Attack

Re: sneak attacks pretty weak Weapon Finesse + Dex boosting items/spells. Easiest solution - team up with a second rogue. You could also make friends with a spellcaster with Invisibility, Greater. If the attackers are pure rogues, an equal-level defender must be a single-classed barbarian or...

D&D 3.x The new tumbling dwarf in 3.5.

But you still get the extra bonus to Fighting Defensively and Total Defense with 5 ranks, regardless of what your armor check penalty is.

D&D 3.x [3.5] Things I wish they would have fixed

Would it have been so frickin' unbalancing to give Sorcerers Eschew Materials for free, considering all the bonus feats Wizards get?

    CLW on a Wonderous Item

"I'm only using an effective Strength of 2. Thus, I do 1d8-4 damage, and heal the target 1d8+1. Since we're not in combat, I should be able to automatically hit even with the Strength penalty..."

    Amazon Orders

Ordered the PH along with the latest Harry Potter book on June 16th. Got the Harry Potter book on the day it was released (June 21st, I believe). Amazon still hasn't sent the PH, and the delivery estimate is still Jul 8, 2003 - Jul 9, 2003. I placed a second order for the DMG and MM on July...

Outsiders and Death on the Prime Material Plane

Hmm. Doesn't the soul/spirit still return to the deity, by standard D&D cosmology? That would mean that the "dead" Solar would return to the deity, who has the power to restore a material body.
