Hide in Plain Sight - DM Advice

So once he attacks, during the next round he can simply roll a regular hide check and vanish, only to reappear once he sneaks in and delivers another full round attack... and repeat the same process indefinitely? He still needs cover, right?

Hide in Plain Sight - DM Advice

He's actually a NG male half-orc werewolf (long story) ranger 3/stalker of Kharash 3 (Exalted Deeds), and he gets hide in plain sight as a 4th level stalker, much earlier than a typical ranger. So, the ranger can essentially roll a hide check at any time he/she has cover or is in a natural...

Hide in Plain Sight - DM Advice

Hey, all. How do you folks run hide in plain sight at your tables? What are some of the ways your players have applied it in combat? I've never DMed a player with hide in plain sight before, and I wanted some tips or advice concerning player use so it's not abused. The player in question is...

Good name for a Horned Devil (cornugon)

I'm a big fan of the name "Arkengraul." One of my pit fiend baddies in the previous epic campaign was named as such.

What don't you like about D&D?

The fact that girls often don't consider it a "worthy past time," or at least not much of an admirable quality, in the man of their dreams. ;)

So what is your favorite module, ever?

"Dargaard Keep" from the 2E Dragonlance module collection World of Krynn stands out for me. Dragons of Despair is another Dragonlance module that stands out. I also enjoyed The Rod of Seven Parts module box. House of Strahd/Ravenloft 16 are favorites. Night Below is another favorite...

So what is your favorite Dungeon adventure, ever?

"The Lich Queen's Beloved" from #100 is a favorite of mine. "Quicksilver Hourglass" from #123 is also a favorite. "The Champion's Belt" from #128 is one I'm looking forward to now.

Conan RPG - What do I need?

I love Tolkien, but I must say that though I might savor Tolkien's writing, literally gorged myself on Howard's writing. YES! Savage Sword of Conan and Conan Saga were necessary subscriptions for me back when I was 13/14. They were incredible. I gave my collection to a buddy of mine, and...

Conan RPG - What do I need?

Thanks for the responses, folks. Much appreciated. I'll look into all of the books mentioned. As for Mr. Howard, the one-and-only reason I want to game in Hyborea is because of Howard's work. I just finished the three Conan volumes (Coming of Conan of Cimmeria, etc.). I was totally blown...

Conan RPG - What do I need?

I'm interested in acquiring whatever books I need to run a campaign set in ancient Hyborea. I've surfed Amazon, Google, and Mongoose publishing, and I've caught wind of a Conan RPG: Atlantean Edition, which seems to be mirrored in a paperback pocket-sized volume (which apparently contains only...

What's the lamest monster you've seen made cool, and how?

    Githyanki : Dungeon #100's "Lich-Queen's Beloved" module/Dragon #309's "Incursion" campaign data. :D

To James Jacobs: A Growing Problem with Dungeon Magazine

I'm a proud subscriber of Dungeon. I don't have any complaints about spell, feat, or class level selection in the bosses. I always change things to suit the campaign. That's part of the fun for me. The module is there. It's up to me to mold it.

What level, class and alignment are you?

I took three of those surveys that determine your race, class, alignment, and ability scores after asking a bunch of questions. Two of the three times I came out a LG dwarf paladin with Con as my highest ability score. The funny part is that my Cha came out as 10. Some paladin. ;) Every...

What is your favorite RPG inspired anime?

I remember getting the entire 6-tape set of Record of the Lodoss War for Christmas exactly 10 years ago. I caught the prologue episode on Sci-Fi's anime Saturday line-up back in the mid-90s, and I was stunned. Parn and Deedlit faced a green dragon (wingless, sadly), and Ghim with his axe...

    Tell me about the Chameleon...

Anna: "It change colors. Like the cameleon. It uses the jungle." Dillon: "You saying that Blain and Hawkins were killed by a f---in' lizard? That's a bull---- psyche job. There is 2 to 3 men out there at the most. F---in' lizard." Awesome movie. :D

    What module are you running?

I'm in the middle of Sons of Gruumsh, inserted into the Age of Worms path, in-between "Encounter at Blackwall Keep" and "Hall of Harsh Reflections." It's such an awesome hack'n'slash I had to fit it in.

How many forums do you follow?

I frequent Wizards, ENWorld, Paizo, and Candlekeep. Candlekeep is great because you can discuss FR novels without having to worry about the Thought Police on Wizards' forums.

Does your gaming take a hit because of the holidays?

Yes, this year it does. We play on Sundays, so with Christmas Eve and New Years Eve falling on a Sunday, the games are off.

    Is Dragonlance Done?

I'd love to run through the Classics modules again. Until that happens, I'm using Dragons of Despair's map of Xak Tsaroth as the lair of Illthane the Black (Age of Worms campaign, she's a mature adult black in my campaign), replacing the draconians with black draconic lizardfolk and the...

Threats around and under Grendel's pond

Perhaps a team of rival hunters from a nearby mead hall. The two parties can either join forces or fight over the right to plunge into the pond. Beyond that, I'd suggest a swarm or some intelligent plant or fungus. Maybe some stirges, some large spiders, centipedes, or scorpions. Perhaps a...
