If Superman exists and went bad....

How quickly does Superman depower when out of sunlight? Because if it's fast enough, that "clear covering" doesn't need to be that clear. Glomp him with enough coloured paste to obscure him from the sunlight, and then... crosses your fingers. Of course, that assumes that he's the Superman we...

    The Chronicles of Narcissist

Admittedly, I'm not an American, but I was under the impression (given my own province's political results), that the more local you get on the political ladder, the more likely single-issue voting happens. Further, the farther apart two areas are, the more likely those single-issues are...

    The Chronicles of Narcissist

To be fair, they wanted to run for president. The party didn't pick them to actually do so.

Would you use a transporter beam?

I honestly can't say at the moment if I'd be able to or not. I'd love to be able to, but as said, turning off the self-preservative is not an easy thing. In the delayed scenario, I wonder if some of the research done with people who suffer from problems recognizing others would be useful...

Claims you've never actually heard spoken

That's a bit disingenuous. Many poor have an excellent work ethic - heck, for some it's why they fail in school; it's not that they don't value education, it's that they don't have time for studying because they work after school to help their family. What they lack is opportunity, and...

    Banned for life

Well, that's the thing - nobody is stopping him from creating his own league (Vince McMahon did). You cannot, however, just declare yourself a team in someone else's league.

Reversing the order of narrative and dice (and musings on Star Wars: Edge of the Empire)

Have you checked out John Wick's Houses of the Blooded? The general idea there is that you're not rolling to see if you succeed, but rather you're rolling to see who gets to decide if you succeed, and each involved player can add wagers to the risks to add to how it plays out (so even if you...

GAME OF THRONES #5:First of His Name ACT 44 Chapter 4-2014

I find the twist that the Lannisters are running out of money rather interesting

    Banned for life

Didn't say that. People had to make an effort to go to Chick-Fil-A instead of their usual MacDonalds, White Castle, or where ever (not being American, I dunno their main competitors). Doing so long term takes a lot more motivation than most people are willing to muster if the issue doesn't...

    Banned for life

I don't have a link handy, but turns out - not so much. Sure, they had a big bump right after the incident, but supportive people went back to their usual fast food habits pretty quickly, but the boycotters didn't, so net sales are down for Chick-Fil-A.

    Most Difficult Movie to Watch?

Alive Stomach couldn't handle it the first time I saw it.

    Lucy (trailer)

To be fair, the trend seems to be one good/acceptable portrayal and one less so... Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool/Green Lantern Chris Evans as Cap/Johnny Storm (also a hero in Push) Halle Berry as Storm/Catwoman So... ponder that...

    Cultural appropriation in writing?

Not inherently a problem in my view. Ideally, the work should stand apart from the author (yes, I know this doesn't always happen). It's little different than saying men cannot write female characters, or kids cannot write about adults.

    Facebook's "new" 58 genders

Money. A large but finite list of options allows them to sell ads on keywords. Allowing users complete freedom reduces the value of any particular keyword. And it removes the risk of 'joke' genders.

    Targeted ads

Not really embarrassing but amusing - my buddy always asks for a lift to games night, so GMail always shows ads for elevators and elevator repair services with his emails.

    Yeah, no.

Couldn't say when that verbal tic came to the fore, but I have long had that habit of prefacing almost everything I say with 'No, ...' even if it wasn't a yes/no question.

    Your favourite non-D&D game?

A Song of Ice and Fire RPG by Green Ronin by a large margin. I'm big into the house management and political intrigue stuff.
