    Players who want to trap

Treat it like a ritual. A level X trap deals damage equal to the level X medium limited damage expression on the table in the DMG and costs as either a ritual of that level's component cost. The skill check is a Thievery check. If the thievery check meets a high DC check for level X, the...

4E GSL - non core references

That's what I thought as well. Is there any rumor that the SRD will be updated?

What kind of Sales can you expect from PDF?

I wanted to resurrect this thread and inquire about sales now that 4E is out. 1) How are sales for OGL/D20 products these days? 2) Has anyone published anything for 4E under the GSL yet? How are sales? Thanks!!

4E GSL - non core references

The GSL makes it pretty clear that you can use (A) anything in the SRD or (B) the given logo. Say I wanted to make a product that incorporated material from a splat. Perhaps I am writing a module and want to include "Armor of Resistance" from the Adventurer's Vault as part of the treasure...

    Consecrated Ground and game Balance

I played a cleric with this power. In my experience, if you treat the Circle as REGAINING HP instead of regeneration, it is an "I-Win" button or a nuke, in that it assures MAD. If your DM avoids coup de gracing downed PCs, then the circle guarantees victory in most fights. It might take a...

    Move Action before Charge Attack

Here's a question: Must you move directly to the closest square at the start of your turn? or at the start of your action?

    That low magic progression table?

Sticking with Mearl's Post is simplest. With any other system you might as well give out magic items to keep it simple and reduce bookkeeping. If magic items are offensive to you just call them something different. Instead of a Cloak of Protection +1, its a "Hero's Aura +1," a non-physical...

Trouble with Short Rest and Healing Word

It doesn't take quite as long as you think it does. BATTLE - Use your 2xhealing words during the fight or immediately afterwards. 5 min short rest 6 seconds - Spend 2 x healing word 5 min short rest 6 seconds - spend 2 x healing word 5 min short rest Ready to Fight Again In threat areas I...

    Nature Priest

Sounds like you either: A) Start with 12 STR (bumped to 13 in Paragon) and burn feats on Chain, Scale, and Shield. Should be backed up by your good CON. B) Pump DEX and use scimitars or longbows. Seems like good potential for multiclassing with Ranger. C) Accept a lower AC.

How can a Fighter get Stoneskin?

Just taking the multiclass feat and grabbing it as an encounter power is likely sufficient. Although INT is normally a dump stat for fighters and clerics, so even the 13 required for the feat is painful...

    Anemic Horses

Normally I would agree with the above points about realism, the idea that a European knight might have 3 horses, etc. Part of the design philisophy of 4E, however, is that realism takes a back seat to fun and cinematic action. So, rather than have the Knight track the bookkeeping of 3 horses...

How bad is the paladin going to be without armor in combat?

I think he may become Paladin Kabob. One of his class features is that he gets Plate + Heavy Shields. Not being able to use them is akin to a wizard not being able to cast spells.

    Thoughts on STR cleric

Here's a handbook on the matter I wrote recently. Still fleshing out some sections, but its good through Heroic Tier. http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?t=1082033

Am I the only person who likes Paragon Multi classing?

Or, you could play a wizard that multiclasses into the Divine ORacle PP, and maybe swaps a mediocre encounter power out. That gives you great cleric flavor without the suck that is Paragon Multiclassing.

Characters of War up at Wizards

What do you mean, getting something for nothing is power creep? Seems to me that each of these backgrounds is worth about 2-3 feats. If you had to pay your first two feats towards them, maybe they'd be ok. Maybe.

    Feywild Offense

I noticed that Eladrin have only a single heroic tier feat. Additionally, unlike just many of the other races, they lack a way to boost offense in a tight spot. This is particularly needed, IMHO, to make the tactical warlord more viable. Does a feat like this seem unbalanced? FEYWILD OFFENSE...

Moderate inxotication? Could just be a special condition, like "-2 to attack rolls."

Forked Thread: Is Being Knocked out Restful?

Seems like usually, no, its not restful. But I'd allow a creative player to make an Endurance Check (likely medium or hard DC) to allow recovery of Encounter powers. Either one Endurance Check for everything, or perhaps one check per power depending on how dramatic I wanted to make it. I'd...

    Unbalanced striker extra damage?

Rogues do lots of damage. Period. Warlocks impose nasty status conditions on their victims and oftentimes are a sort of one-target controller. They also do this at range, which is safer. Thus, less pure HP damage. Its balanced -- both do their job, they just do it differently.
