Pleast post text instead of links! :)

LOL!! Actually EnWorld *WAS* blocked for a long time. . . one of the Network Security guys or an executive must be excited about 4E or something. I'll note that SI.com NEVER gets blocked around here!

D&D 4E 4e skill system -dont get it.

If 4E dryads are anything like previous dryads what I want as a reward is *NOT* some magic item and advice! ;) . . . of course that might require some additional skill checks.

What books describe a good magical world?

I'll throw in another vote for Steven Brust's Vlad Taltos series. . . based on the criteria you said you were interested in, its the best fit possible. It also happens to be one of the "Holy Trinity" of the three best fantasy series ever written.

Pleast post text instead of links! :)

I just have a request for people posting information from the WotC blogs/website. Could you take a second to cut and paste the text of the article into a post, instead of just providing a link? Many of us are behind corporate firewalls that block access to sites like WotC. Posting links...

Monsters that mark: A pain for DMs

So far the best solution I've heard is that you're marked as long as you've been attacked by a crunchy monster that marks, and you remain marked until all crunchy monsters with that mark are dead. Sure, not exactly the same as tracking each individual monster and its marks, but a lot simpler...

    Nostalgia Campaigns

I'd never run a 3.x nostalgia game. . . How do I know this? Because I've never run an AD&D 1.0 nostalgia game and after years of playing 3.x I've come to the conclusion that I had more fun with 1.0 . . . even though I could never go back to it at this point with all its rules issues.

Do we know anything about feat & power progression?

So basically. . . no. Nobody has the foggiest idea how powers progress, only guesses.

Fireballs, Force Orbs, and Ranged Attacks

You can't leave crossbow bolts, arrows, sling stones, thrown dagger, darts etc. etc. etc. out of this. Currently, the rules say that if a roll to hit misses, then whatever had that roll to hit is assumed to miss everything and just fly off into unoccupied space. You're designing rules to say...

Wizards: We want Class Power decks

I don't disagree that Wizards would help out gamers by releasing non-random sets of miniatures for roleplaying use. I do want to point out that even under the current distribution method, they are a wonderful opportunity for many gamers. Most unpainted, metal miniatures will run you $4 - $5...

I think Barbarians should be strikers, or maybe even controllers

Your forgot the best part under Effect: As a minor action the Barbarian my spend a healing surge to regain hit points by shouting "Yippy Kai-A" at his opponent.

D&D 4E What place does dual wielding have in 4E?

Some decent ideas in this thread. . . but I don't think that's the route they are going to go. Based on what we've seen so far, my prediction is that 2WF will grant an additional attack that may be used as part of an at-will power. Therefore, you won't be able to combine it with the use of a...

    My playtest results...

I'd think it would have to be an immediate action. That is the only way (besides free) to take an action on somebody else's turn.

    D&D 4E 4E in Car-speak: "No Sale"

For me 3.5 has a lot of miles on it, the tires are worn, its showing some rust spots that are going to become real problems, the various engine parts are beginning to fail and the warranty has expired. Yeah, I could probably get another 50,000 - 100,000 miles out of it if I cared enough about...

Joe Commoner, and his BIG AXE!!!

Heh. I was going to point this out myself but you beat me to it. I just hope hammers get at least a +2 proficiency bonus. For some reason I really want to run a hammer wielding fighter in 4E. Maybe just because in every previous version of the rules hammers have been pretty lame and this...

Is this what you went through with 3rd Edition?

I apologize it was inflammatory. I just got a little annoyed by your implication that I was a johnny come lately who didn't know what I was talking about when I've been around these parts for ages. I do disagree though that EnWorld was somehow the exception to all the discussion and...

Is this what you went through with 3rd Edition?

LOL!!! I don't generally remember handles that well. . . but I do remember Synaptic Dragon now that you mention him! The good old Wild West days of the D&D web presence. :)

Is this what you went through with 3rd Edition?

I don't happen to remember your name from the 1999 era either. Either you weren't here, or just weren't very memorable. This is probably my fourth or fifth account on here. (Keep having various issues over the years that just make it easier to create a new account.) I joined Eric Noah's...

D&D 4E Keith Baker on 4E! (The Hellcow responds!)

Wow!! MW Healing kits are 250gp?? This is about how things would go in my group with NPCs carrying expensive gear. . . Hey guys, gather round!! Our group is going to go Healer hunting!!! I heard there's this whole lair of them in this building at the center of town. (A hospital or...

Pathfinder 1E PPP (Post Pathfinder Poll)

HATERS IN THE FORUM!!! GET THEM!!!! lol!! Seriously though, 3.5 is dead to me. Its 20 minutes of fun packed into four hours paradigm is obsolete. I'm finishing out a campaign right now, but ONLY because my wife is running it and she would be sad if I dropped out. I really don't enjoy it...

    Warlocks not warlockey anymore

I can't believe WotC completely trashed the Warlock class. After all. . . we're talking about a class that has been around for. . . a complete half of an edition? Who the hell does WotC think they are to turn their back on a tradition and cornerstone of D&D with that kind of longevity. There...
