Maybe I am just dense, but why would social encounters need action points? I dont ask because I think they are less important, I ask because it seems self evident to me that they would merely be structured differently. ie combat encounters happen in rounds during which initiative defines when...

I disagree. Saying it is too small to matter doesn't take into account how frequently it may happen. Remember, healing surge probably isnt supposed to be the end all be all of healing either. Count me in the "its them amount of hit points gained during a healing surge" camp.

I don't think that Chris was saying the act of jumping out of the cart was wrong except in an "after the fact, hindsight being 20/20" sense. It may have been the "right" thing for the character that jumped to do at the time of the action, but looking back at the result it was the wrong move...

Am I misremembering or was the Disenchanter from the FF? It was pony sized animal with a proboscus. It sniffed out magic items and when it touched them with its trunk it sucked the magic out of them permanently.
