Which class do you hate the most?

Barbarian. Call it a berserker and I'll learn to let go of the hate. Not before. (Better yet, junk the class completely and make it a theme. A theme that has nothing to do with going berserk.)

Metamorphosis Alpha RPG getting a new edition?

This seems like the second or third time I have heard such a thing in just the last two years or so. The last iteration (or two) of M:A I can't say I cared for (Aliens on an asteroid what? Not that I recall much more than that.) I know the original is on sale at Lulu via POD. As for a new...

[Goodman] DCC RPG Pre-order offer -- Free Exclusive Module!

That sounds like a great deal, and I would really like to give you my money. I don't suppose there's a pre-order option that doesn't involve paypal is there?

Different XP progressions as a means of class balance?

I would be very happy if they did this.

Why did you stay with an earlier edition?

Not sure how to answer. I played in a 3.5 Eberron game quite enthusiastically until a move in early 2008. After that, I started running a homebrew 3.0 game until sometime in mid-2009, at which point I jumped to Pathfinder, converting the homebrew game as we went. And last year I said to hell...

L&L: Putting the Vance in Vancian

Yawn. Crappy poll, semi-coherent article (the subject of which doesn't really arouse strong feelings in me one way or the other). IOW, same as preceding weeks. I have to say, at this point, it's all just turning to white noise until I see some actual playtest docs. It's kind of sad that...

    The Darker Side of Fey

They're alien. Fey really don't understand mortality and mortal beings living in a realm where time only flows in one direction, at one constant rate, are baffling to them. Having absolutely no context for mortal/human experience, and you have the makings of a good atrocity. Add to them their...

D&D 5E (2014) "5E is of no interest to me" - really? Already?

I just wanted to say that I find there's a vast amount of truth in that. Not just about this particular topic neither. On topic, I am cautiously interested. From my perspective, it is WotCs job to sell me on their game, not the other way around. I do not have any particular need for a new...

    D&D 5E (2014) Lists n' Options n' more Lists: A suggested 5e

If I may paraphrase a (semi-) recent movie - 'If you can dodge a hammer, you can dodge a mace.' :D

    D&D 5E (2014) Lists n' Options n' more Lists: A suggested 5e

A thrown mace? Not heard that one before. That aside, pretty nice proposal. I'd be pretty happy with that actually.

    How Weird Should D&D Be?

Bring the weird! Not that I think the rules set needs to do this for me, my games are plenty wacky as it is, but the rules should enable that, if that's what is wanted. But in adventures and supplements and all that, yes, embrace the weird!

    Spells: How Many Levels?

I would be quite happy with an across the board 7 levels of spell progression, at least for the more traditional classes (Wizard, Cleric, and so forth).

Penalties and Being Small: Those who don't mind.

Don't care for it - but the only iteration that really bothered me was the 3.5 version which introduces not only different damage for smaller creatures weapons but the fidgetyness of having to keep track of "no, that's a small sized short sword" or "that dagger is medium sized." It's just a...

    Legends and Lore for 2/13

Are we voting in favor of them or against them? If they are going to go through the motions of asking our opinion, they ought explain themselves. I mean "Features" in Dndnext doesn't tell me anything aside from giving some vague notion as to what the text is supposedly about.

    Legends and Lore for 2/13

I might argue that virtually all of the polls have been heavily loaded with pre-selection bias. But I'm not that cynical. Oh wait, yes I am. The polls are twice as useless as the actual columns. How much use THOSE are I leave to individual taste.

    Legends and Lore for 2/13

New Legends and Lore is up. And with it, another poorly phrased poll. Seriously though, I realize it's not brain surgery, but what am I voting for / against on this poll? Is it asking us to vote for something, or against it? I guess it's asking us to vote to include something. I don't know...

    How about alignment?

Those games with alternate systems which are, by the way, derived from D&D? Those games? No offense, but taking alignment out of D&D or replacing it with an alternate system does not make it "Not D&D." At least, not universally. Certainly not by me, or I suspect, many others.

    Is random good?

I like random. Not necessarily for everything, all the time, but in the main, I quite like it. Yes, it's almost certainly just that I am a product of when I started gaming (1980) but I'm fine with that. I suppose it's an aesthetic thing for me, personally. (And because I feel this will come...

    How about alignment?

As long as the alignments are decoupled from actual mechanics, I don't care if the alignments are Raspberry, Smurfy, and Coal. Also, optional would be nice. But I doubt they'll add a subsystem that doesn't do anything.

How Should Specialist Wizards be handled?

Moreover, to me, the illusionist always had FLAVOR - just a casual glance at the list of spells 1e illusionists got and I get inspired. Illusionists were weavers of dreams and shadow, giving substance to the formless, making the real doubtful, and making things out of mist and darkness...
