Inheritors of 3.5 - An overview of what is out there

Also, while I can't afford to pay people to play in my games, I do provide tasty snacks and beer. So, you know, it is like getting paid. Also, I really like the looks of what you are doing with Trailblazer. Some very nice stuff there. RK

Yes, Yes, yes I am. And by the way, I love the E6 stuff. I think it plays well with my game of choice. RK

Inheritors of 3.5 - An overview of what is out there

I don't do PDF Ok, not cheaper than free. But I don't consider PDFs at all (my bad). I know a lot of people work off of PDFs. Just not me. So for me, Pathfinder is more like $50. (EDIT, ok $32 per amazon, so not as bad). RK

Inheritors of 3.5 - An overview of what is out there

I add C&C Hello, Personally, I also add Castles and Crusades to this list. Some people say it is a retro-clone, but I disagree. It is like taking 3rd edition and stripping out skills and feats, and adding a unified mechanic based on attribute checks. Each class has a favored attribute...

Supernatural Role Playing Game (Help & Discuss)

Pitch Agree with the above. I have and know the core WOD. What is good about this game to replace a system I know. I want to be sold on this game. But I need a pitch. I know nothing about it all except what is in this thread. RK

    Why I'm done with 4e

I am done as well I tried 4th edition. It was fun, but not fun enough to spend tons of money and time learning. I looked at Pathfinder, and the page count just made me tired. So, I went with simple. I have fell back in love with C&C, and the Siege Engine. With enough...

Have the dice ever managed to give your character an interesting personality trait?

Yes, My Paladin Hello, Yes, I had a 1st edition AD&D Paladine, armed with a Holy Sword that could not roll damage the mooks at all. If he had to go toe to toe with a demon, he was rolling 6+s on damage (D8), but if he were fighting the orcs 1s and 2s. This went on for enough adventures that...

Does High Fantasy + Old School = ?

High School 81-85 From my freshmen to junior year, it was me and the DM (who had gone to Cons and everything). We would game about every other friday or saturday night. I would run 5-7 characters. Almost exclusively "Dungeon" Crawls. Sometimes the Dungeon was a Castle or a big forest but it...

    Heroscape Dungeons & Dragons?

Back on the shelves Hi, Hmmm, interesting. I am very interested in this. This also, means that the name "Dungeons and Dragons" will be back on the shelves of ToysRus and walmart and target and the like. I think this is really cool. RK

    Stifling Innovation

Would You? Isn't it true you would only be fine, if they still supported the 2nd edition. I mean, let's say that they call this new game Warhammer Quest, but they then still pour all of the resources that were going to 2nd edition into this new game. You are still out of luck. New Game vs...

Pathfinder 1E [MERGED] Pathfinder forum complaint threads

Sop This. Isn't it pretty SOP that anytime a game (Esp a new game or new edition) hits with this much Hype, it gets its forum for a while? I want to read more than just Pathfinder threads, and for the next few days there will be enough threads to cover the first page. Just my...

    Stifling Innovation

true but This is true to an extent. For example, when Magic: The Gathering came out, most D&D players either played it or didn't, but they didn't, by and large, take person offense. Yet, when 3rd and then 4th edition came out, the ones that saw the game shift toward that style of play...

    Expanded Core new industry standard?

I am sorry but this is so cool, to have a top guy respond in my post. I mean, I am not some kid (42 years old, financial services employee), but this just rocks. I have decided that it didnt really matter either way Base vs. Core, but it is good to have a precise answer from the top. Thanks...

    Expanded Core new industry standard?

certainly I tend to agree with all that you said. I don't have an opinion, and wanted to see what others thought. I knew from the post I quoted and other threads that the word "Core" is getting to be something of a hot button. I agree that it is good business to put out books with new...

    Expanded Core new industry standard?

I almost I almost mentioned "Level" and referenced the older version that actually had the multiple definitions in the front of the book. Your link is funnier however. RK

    Is it my imagination, or...

I concur I have noticed it as well. While not totally E-war free (an occassional foray into the Nostalgia fight) it has been very civil I think. And it has made me want to find a group in my area playing an older version or Retro-version. My group is not much interested. RK

    J. Tweet's comments on Swords & Wizardry

V&v Hello, Did you ever play V&V. That system is a haven for Wonk. Each power is its own sub-system, and the defense table is all over the place. It is by far my favorite supers game. RK

    AD&D1 training rules

We never used the rules as written, but I think you are right, it counteracts the Balance By Level mechanic. Off Topic. Holy Crap, it just hit me that you could make a fortune by slogging up to level 3, then retire and train new people going from level 1 to level 2. That is some nice...

    Treasure and leveling comparisons: AD&D1, B/ED&D, and D&D3 - updated 11-17-08 (Q1)

just to clarify The point of the thread is to show the treasure available in the 1st edition adventures and show that by comparison to 3rd edition, leveling would be the same or could be faster ? The contention seems to be that just because the treasure is there you can not assume that...
