    Sounds like a good woman.

    Good miniatures set?

Look at the EM-4 prepainted minis from Crystal Caste--those are metal. Or the Legendary Encounters line from Reaper Miniatures--those are plastic. Otherwise, you might find a lot of D&D miniatures as suggested above. Lastly, you could print counters; but I find that works best with minis for...

    your penalty for character death

I love that he is Sir Missalot now, and I really like the revenge character spirit--especially since my inference that they looted your character's body was dead on (pardon the pun). Jackals. Anyway, I hope you can make it fun for you again. Some of my most fun characters have been the ones...

    your penalty for character death

That's funny. In my mind, he immediately became Sir Missalot. For the OP, 2 words: revenge character. I can't tell you how many times I've had a fine character who met an untimely & ignoble end covering the retreat or just generally because the game is more about tactics & strategy than...

    Interesting Tweet

I would love to see a new iteration of D&D minis with stat cards for multiple editions.

    SW settings that are wargamable

I found Tour of Darkness very good for the type of play you reference: mission based with variable players from session-top session. Necropolis [2350] is also quite good for this type of play and is sort of Warhammer 40K themed. The key for me was getting the heroes in a small, special forces...

Do you GM for yourself or others?

How about: "grin & bear it" "buck/cowboy/man up"

    Dice Superstition

My biggest dice superstition is having a level, contained area in which to roll. It started several years ago with a character death that I attribute to an uneven, cluttered rolling area at someone else's table top. So, that very next week, I bought a dice rolling tray and kept my dice bag...

    Winding down the campaign

That's great. More of our games die or just fade away rather than reach a conclusion or resume. Some get a restart, but those are rare. I do find that players have a lot of investment in their characters that seems to be more important than continuing the main story.

Do you GM for yourself or others?

This is a good topic and gave me pause for consideration. I have pondered this many times and we've discussed GMing vs. playing in our group. It's a mix for me as well, but I'm basically in it for myself. Much of my enjoyment comes from dreaming & planning a game, especially using the rules...

What publishers do you support (or SHOULD you support)?

I support Pinnacle Entertainment Group for Savage Worlds, Wizards of the Coast for Gamma World and the occasional D&D product, and KenzerCo for Knights of the Dinner Table. I should support Paizo for Pathfinder, Goodman Games for Dungeon Crawl Classics, Palladium for Rifts, Fantasy Flight...

    Palladium books?

$3 for the Rifts core book is a steal. Good catch.

    Palladium books?

Rifts is definitely worth getting. That's why I still have 2 copies on my shelf 20 years later when many, many other games are gone (including d20 Modern). Rifts is very old school: very rich setting, gonzo options and a rules engine that is somewhat broken. But, having attempted a d20...

    Go Kurt Wiegel!

I am glad to see Kurt Wiegel up for ENnies judge. I like his Game Geeks RPG reviews at YouTube and think he would do a fine job with the ENnies.

What's more important: core rules or adventures?

While both are important, I find the core rules to be more important. I will run a game if the core rules are solid, but I have only once been so motivated by an adventure that I picked up the rules to run it: Karak Azgal for Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay. Rules, story (adventure) & minis (with...

    Advice for Boosting a FLGS

Here are the things that get me into the stores here (my FLGS) and there (out-of town shops), and that seem successful for the operation: 1. Stock it and offer subscriptions. This is more for comics, but it applies to games, too. My FLGS pulls Knights of the Dinner Table for me, and I get...

    Wik's Triumphant Return to 3e!

Very cool. I've pondered a way to return to d20 but need a way to make it simpler to run. Maybe an E6 variant would make it more like Savage Worlds on the DM side.

The Clan - How does it work?

I think this aspect mostly moves at the speed of plot. The society is semi-capitalistic, as described above; but also because a bunch of capitalists are playing it. Also, consider why the tribe, including the PCs, raid. To get wealth: goods, gear, girls or gold. Those things certainly...
