D&D 4E Will errata ever be incorporated in 4E books?

Yeah. . .I thought that too, since errata is essentially rules revisions. I see the point where you don't want to piss off the folks who already bought your books. It doesn't mean I don't want errata'd books though. I still haven't bought a ton of the books, and get further behind every...

What is the most over-the-top wildest D&D campaign you've been in?

Nice! The in character *and* out of character stuff was over the top! Jay

    plot/story line - Need ideas

Totally this. The twist will be more meaningful if you tie it into a story element, and this is a great way to do it. Even better if you do the horror movie thing. Horror movies are good because they don't scare you constantly. They build tension, and allow you to connect to the...

    Is darkness broken

And swarms are vulnerable to suck attacks. Suddenly the key to this encounter is revealed. . . Bad design IMO. Locked door screams railroad to me. Darkness means you can't even pick it, though you could try to force your way out if it got bad. I did this darkness trick to a party once...

Does the rule limiting encounter powers to 5 minutes actually exist?

Just like the title says. I see this quoted as truth all the time, but I do not recall there being an explicit rule that says all encounter effects last only 5 minutes. Does it exist? If so, where? Thanks, Jay

D&D 4E Will errata ever be incorporated in 4E books?

Sure it is, if that's what he said. Flipguarder might be over-reacting a little, but the core of his point is valid. Jay

    Arcane Power excerpt: Summoning

Yeah, having summons, animal companions, familiars, etc that had self contained stat blocks was one of the big changes I looked forward to in 4e. Playing a 10th level Conjurer will burn you out on looking up and tracking stuff like that pretty quick. I also loved leveling up my sorcerer. ...

    Time and distances

I'll second the reccomendation for the 3e Explorer's Guide. Very useful for this kind of thing. As a yardstick, I'll use the fact that a good day of travel on the Oregon Trail (wagons on plains at a walking pace) was 20 miles. When I was a scout I participated in a hike called the 50/20. 50...

    Glaive, Falchion, Katar

The best fighter I ever played with in 4e. . .probably the best defender. Maybe even the best character, was a trident+shield elf fighter. He was super, super effective at defending. It depends on your metric, I guess, because he wasn't doing off-striker damage, but he didn't need to. We had...

Vote for your favorite Paragon Path - Part 4: Ranger

I'm surprised Stormwarden isn't winning. Isn't it the universally acclaimed champion? That said, I like Avalanche Hurler and Sharpshooter both a lot. I went with Sharpshooter. Jay

    How to build a world

These replies are great. I had heard of the top down and bottom up approaches, and was pretty set on top down, since I do have the time to do it that way. Also, using Weem's numbered progression I have myself to about 4. Except for #2, drawing the continent. I fiddled around a bit with Gimp...

    Foulspawn Grue

The dim recesses of my memory holds an encounter where I set two displacer beasts against the party (and some trolls and dinosaurs and orcs). IIRC displacer beasts gain extra attacks and that +2d6 damage, so if they both flank they get like a grand total of 12d6 extra damage. Not sure on the...

Vote for your favorite Paragon Path - Part 3: Paladin

None of the PP's specifically for Paladin exite me much. Hospitaler is great if you are Cha/Wis. My Str/Wis Dragonborn was looking at Paragon Multiclassing Barbarian, or later Scion of Arkhosia. Both for flavor reasons. Jay

    Motion in the Potion

Why does a belt need to be magic to hold potions? What is wrong with a hard leather bandolier holding your potions? Does the magic keep them from breaking? Is it an extradimentional space? Does it just give you the magic of the potion without you having to drink it? Seems odd to me. Jay

Multible Misty Step - All at once...

Really? Because that sounds really, really cool to me. And I bet the Warlock's player had a blast doing it, too. If Nightcrawler had your DM, he'd probably quit and join my game. The lesson to be learned here is not that the mechanic is problematic, but that bunched minions are so much more...

Basilisk Venomous Gaze - Requires line of sight?

Really? This makes perfect sense. If I remember my stories (and Clash of the Titans), it wasn't that the Medusa had to look at you, it was that you had to look at her. You could be invisible and still look, and be turned to stone. Same here, the attack (vs Will? Fort) represents your...

    Best Gestalt Combo for Wizard

Not at all helpful to the OP since this thread is so old, but my two cents: 3.5's action economy means that wizard/any caster is going to not be much better than a wizard. Much of the power of these classes is tied up in their spells, and you can still only cast 1 a round, just like a single...

    How to build a world

I've been lurking this board for a few days, poking around to see if there is any advice along the lines I'm looking. I haven't found any. And since I know the posters at ENWorld are such a creative bunch, I figured I'd post and see if I could get some help. I'm currently not in a good place...

    This mentality needs to die

I'd say this is a pretty unfair characterization. A generalized one that makes a lot of assumptions about one's DM as well. I think you'll find that most games do not involve any kind of Mother May I. Jay
