At what point do players know they're fighting Minions?

What's the best guide to good hybrid choices?

Yeah, I noticed that like, a few minutes after I put it up. Now each stat pairing just lists all classes that have that as a Primary or Secondary. Note that some classes have pretty weak Secondaries (Wizards have Cha as a secondary. . .) So, lets try this again. Jay

How do you envision monk implement use?

Are you referring to Ki Focuses? My Assassin's Ki Focus is a necklace he made. It has tremendous personal significance, and it is something he meditates on during quiet moments. He may not draw his power directly from it, but it has absorbed some of his power and now imbues him with strength...

    Specify attack method? How strict

These kinds of things do kind of get under my skin, because I am a player who at least tries to remember what the hell his character is doing. My Dragonborn Paladin was without his shield for most of an adventure because it took place in a clockwork dungeon, and many, many checks were required...

What's the best guide to good hybrid choices?

Just a little spreadsheet I made to get a visual of Hybrid possibilities. It looks like Str/Wis is the most optimal choice, with 4 classes that have Str primary and Wis secondary. Nothing special, but it was interesting to me so I'll post it here. Jay EDIT - In case it isn't clear, any row...

    Specify attack method? How strict

This *sort* of thing happened often to us in 3.5. If the fight looked to be minor, we would keep our casters asleep so they could get their full rest and all that. You did gyp him out of the combat, and he had a right to be bugged about it. Just the noise of battle should have lowered the...

Aside from Expertise, what are the most commonly acknowledged feat-tax feats?

I think the hyperbole about characters sucking, or being gimped because they don't take Expertise is waaaay overstating the case. It is a good feat. After 15th level it is a *great* feat. But it has been pointed out upthread that starting to-hit values matter quite a bit too. Is a...

Battle Standard of the Hungry Blade

Man, is there a battle standard that does this backwards? I picture an Invoker of Ioun planting a standard with his God's symbol on it and roaring a challenge, only to have his enemies repulsed from him every round through sheer Divine power. Man, I love this game. Jay

Vote for your favorite Paragon Path - Part 1: Cleric

Divine Oracle may be good for Multiclassing, but Warpriest builds can get quite scary-awesome. Jay

    Glaive, Falchion, Katar

Glaive (IIRC) is the best Heavy Blade polearm, meaning builds that can use Heavy Blade Opportunity like them, Artificers and other weapon using Arcane classes can use them (via the Arcane implement feat), and the 2d4 isn't bad either. Jay

Pathfinder 1E Is PAIZO becoming the next Wizards?

In regards to the OP: No, not at all. Nor should they. If we are comparing *Wizards of the Coast* to *Paizo*, not 4e to Pathfinder, there is a big difference. Wizards has a lot under it's umbrella that I have no interest in whatsoever, they have CCG's and young adult properties. . .D&D is just...

    Paladin and Fighter Mark

The wording of the marks is something like "any attack that does not include the fighter/paladin", which means area attacks with the defender in them do not trigger the mark. Jay

    Background benefits?

Right, that +2 isn't a big deal, but when you leverage your racial bonuses, prime skill, background, training, focus, familiar, etc to make your check almost unfailable. I am guilty of trying to do this. I feel dirty. Jay

PH3 Feats Excerpt: Superior Implements, Versatile Expertise, and Unarmored Agility

Impending Victory. . .another unnamed +1 bonus to attack? Why not take this if you are a Dragonborn, or a Sorcerer, or a Dragonborn Sorcerer. . .stack those puppies up till you just can't miss. Yes, I dislike unnamed bonuses. Jay

The Second Age - Commentary on my campaign

Our first try at a sandboxy game was in the Nentir Vale, and it was kind of interesting to read your account. We killed a green dragon North of town (on a boat in that large lake at the North end of the Vale) and brought it back in the boat. We were also hailed as heroes, and I believe that is...

Question About Godlike Stature from Eternal Defender Epic Desitiny

At epic MBA's and most at-wills become 2[w]. Meaning that the most optimized non-huge weapon wielding character will be doing 4d6, while the cheesed out huge weapon wielder could do 4d10. That is a difference in max damage of 16 points, nothing to sneeze at, and a difference in average damage...

    Background benefits?

Those benefits were kind of a mistake IMO. Most backgrounds give you another class skill, a bonus to a skill, or a language. That is all relatively minor, and can reflect a background accurately. Things outside of that space almost all seem overpowered. Jay

    Assassin Mechanics Questions

Firstly, no, since you can only have 4 shrouds at a time. Secondly, no, unless they had the Assassin feat that allowed him to shroud unaware. Thirdly, play an assassin, and see how often the enemy has no damned clue where you are, and if they can find you, must run a gauntlet of OA's to get...

Aside from Expertise, what are the most commonly acknowledged feat-tax feats?

QFT You will not find one opinion on whether the math is balanced here at ENworld. Several loooong threads on the subject exist. Your best bet is to see how your players do at Epic (since that is where a problem would appear, if one did exist), and make changes if needed. Jay

Is a creature still a creature when it's dead?

I'd say it depends. If you leave all the dead minis on the board, for the rest of the combat, I'd not allow teleporting next to them. If it is an enemy you just killed, I have no problem with it. I don't claim my view is RAW, but 0 HP=immediately dead doesn't sit will with me. I picture an...
