    Wizards: Already Too Strong?

When you consider the number of cantrips, remember that two of them are not the wizard's but the magic-user's. Great theme by the way. Getting some magic is definitely useful, especially in a group like ours, where loss of equipment is common.

    Spells

At the end of How To Play. I like the writ-ups. They lack any reference to class and power source. Therefore a Magic-User might be able to select "cleric" abilities, which is neat.

    Advantages / Disadvantages

Yes. I'd settle for +-4. But personally I like bonus and penalty dice.

D&D 3.x Why prcs in 3.5 were kinda dumm.

Prestige classes were dumb because characters stopped progressing in their original class, and as you mention, because of their funky prerequisites. That was accounted for in 4e. Paragon Paths in 4e were dumb because they were not optional and had to be taken at fixed point of time (level 11)...

    Sword-wielding Arcanists

I admit, it took me some time to make up a title. I'm not sure it's perfect myself. On a related note: Why be paladin when you can be a cleric?

    Sword-wielding Arcanists

Hi, there is one type of character that got several takes but none stuck: The swordwielding arcanist. There have been Bladesingers, Hexblades, Duskblades, Swordmages. Bladesingers/Duskblades occupy the same thematic nieche: Elvish sword-wizardry. While the Bladesinger, both 3e and 4e, had...

    10% Controller, 50% Striker, 20% Leader, 20% Defender

What does role mean in the first place: Defenders can mark, leaders have a word. Strikers and controllers don't even have a single mechanism. tl;dr There is no roles.

    D&D 5E (2014) Magic Item Slots in D&D Next

Other: A character cannot controll more item levels than f(character level). Still a hard limit, but more flexible. One character can go christmas tree with a dozen of little trinkets, another just has a great magic sword. Character could also earn other types of boons without yet another system.

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D 5e Feats

I agree that special mechanics and plain bonuses shouldn't be in the same category. Actually I was hoping that in 4e they would put all the special mechanics into powers and make the feats simple bonuses. In the end, the opposite happened. Feats modifying powers and class features. That's...

*raise_thread* Hi everyone, I have a question about Nathan's formula. I take it, that's the formula as presented. ImageShack® - Online Photo and Video Hosting I'm not sure about parentheses. I'd multiply binomials and (l-1)^r with the results of the Cs as well. Like this... 1/(n^d) SUM SUM...

It was save vs. attack. I'm guessing you either get a save or there is a damage roll. So it's always two rolls.

    Tips when building Dungeons.

Personally, I never have a problem with people, history and stuff like that, but with basic geography and layout. I found that Geomorphs were very helpful for me. You can google it.

So much for theory, but at least at my table people will announce what they roll immediately. Or maybe even "Hits you for 15 lightning", if the defense is known.

Can the Vampire Class make new vampires?

You can ask the same for any class. Can a cleric initiate someone? Can a warlock help someone forge a pact? Can a fighter train someone how to fight?
