D&D General D&D Podcasts that are edited like a story instead of a game?

Because I hadn't heard one before and I think it's an interesting idea. I also enjoy improvised podcasts. Is that okay for me to listen to, even though it's unscripted fiction? I was unaware my tastes had to be justified!

    Fiction Writer's Thread

I used to write a lot when I was younger, and then I got way too self-critical about it. Every once in a while a story would realize itself in my mind and I'd suddenly sit down and write it out. Funny enough, playing Ironsworn actually got me back into writing regularly. It reminded me that you...

    D&D 5E (2024) So IS it a new edition?

I think it's not a new edition based on how WotC defines editions. In my view less changed from 5e 2014 to 5e 2024 than from 3rd to 3.5. I would say it's a new edition of 5e, since it is a new variation that new publications will be based on. But as a WotC product, I don't think it's enough of...

D&D General We Hardly Knew Ye: NPCs in your campaigns that were gone too soon

I ran a d20 Conan game that took place in a giant prison city. The characters were facing against a gang of deadly children called the Skullboys. They wound up negotiating and made allies with the leader, Marrow. He was like one of Peter Pan's Lost Boys but with the creepiness dial turned up to...

D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Players Handbook: Personality and Appearance is now part of the Abilities (not background or species) - NEW Alignment decriptions.

My local library has the 2014 5e D&D Player's Handbook available. Maybe soon yours will have the 2024?

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 is out...and yet.....where are the threads?

I just checked Morrus's thread collecting reviews and the first 5 video links worked.

D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Players Handbook: Personality and Appearance is now part of the Abilities (not background or species) - NEW Alignment decriptions.

It's half a page? Hardly a waste of space. I don't use alignment myself, but a statement like this seems designed only to provoke people who enjoy it rather than adding anything productive to the conversation.

D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Players Handbook: Personality and Appearance is now part of the Abilities (not background or species) - NEW Alignment decriptions.

That's neat! It's a fun way to generate some ideas of your character's personality based on your ability scores.

Don't you know? It's now a Forever Edition Debate. It will never end.

    D&D General Player-generated fiction in D&D

Thinking more about this topic, in a big 5e campaign I played in set in (our version of) the Forgotten Realms, two other players and I played as dwarven cousins. We met together before the first adventure and played out our own improvised session, filling in details about our holds, our...

    Dungeon World

I love Ironsworn, but have never tried the Delve supplement. It sounds like it's worth perusing?

    Reinventing the Wheel

And? The process of innovation is still fun, even when others have done it first. And let's be realistic, 99% of house rules and hacks I come up with aren't actually going to see light at the table. It's just a fun process.

    D&D General Player-generated fiction in D&D

I've just got to say, in my 20+ years of playing D&D I've found the exact opposite to be true. The more I have players invest in creating the world, story ideas, NPCs, etc, the greater I've found player investment to be. But that might just be my style as a DM! I know that in my experience as...

    D&D General Player-generated fiction in D&D

I just reread the OP and didn't see any of those labels.

    D&D General Player-generated fiction in D&D

Personally I find player-generated fiction not just fun, but creatively refreshing as a DM. I can sit by myself and create an interesting campaign world, but it's limited by my own creativity. When I invite the players into the world-building process, they come up with ideas I never would have...

    Reinventing the Wheel

In my own experience, it's more fun to try and hack D&D and come up with my own solutions than just implement someone else's.
