Level Up (A5E) Thoughts on A5E classes from your table(s)?

Well, that is what I don't know :p The relevant meneuvers state something like: And the Fighting Style states: So, I don't know. Would they? Arguments for either case can be made and I don't know what was intended by the authors. From a balance perspective, letting all attacks during a...

Level Up (A5E) Thoughts on A5E classes from your table(s)?

Are you adding the bonus damage from Technical Fighter to the bonus action attacks? Because I am not entirely convinced that is appropriate because those attacks are not technically part of the maneuver action... Though you could argue that the attacks still make use of the maneuver. But that...

Level Up (A5E) Sporting Chance maneuver bug/feature?

Level Up (A5E) Sporting Chance maneuver bug/feature?

The Sporting Chance maneuver from the Gallant Heart tradition (GPG #21) states the following: The flavour makes it abundantly clear that this is supposed to target enemies. However, I am, by definition, a creature within my own reach (and so are allies within my reach). I assume this should be...

Level Up (A5E) Thoughts on A5E classes from your table(s)?

Oh one final edge-case with your fix: If you manage to land a hit as a reaction during an opponent's turn (say with Speed Over Strength or Polearm Savant, for example), you stop the enemy right in their tracks AND make them skip their next turn as well.

Neither have I because my players are usually smart enough to not tempt me with their super-munchkins ;)

Level Up (A5E) Thoughts on A5E classes from your table(s)?

Your suggestion makes SA less powerful, in the sense that you and maybe not all of your partymembers will enjoy advantage. That is certainly good, because it lowers the chance of hitting in a subsequent turn where you would want to apply the stun again. But it still locks down enemies the same...

Level Up (A5E) Thoughts on A5E classes from your table(s)?

It is comparable in a sense yes, but the problem here seems to be that Stunning Assault is absurdly good at reliably locking down one or two enemies. With Stunning Assault you can easily force 3+ saving throws against an arguably stronger condition (because charm immune does not work against...

Level Up (A5E) Thoughts on A5E classes from your table(s)?

Honestly, with how little fighters gain in the late game and how tempting it is to mc, neither do most fighters in O5E... But even so, three attacks puts the exertion cost of unupgraded Stunning Assault in line with the Adept's Stunning Strike, which is fine I think.

Level Up (A5E) Thoughts on A5E classes from your table(s)?

How about just nerfing Stunning Assault (and potentially the other "assault" maneuvers that use the same mechanic), in this way: Still powerful, getting Fighters up to 4 stunning attacks at level 20 (instead of at level 5), but no longer incentivises them to dual wield and try to OoA or...

Level Up (A5E) Questions about Oaken Fist archetype

Not being able to move is an interesting concept that could allow for some tactical decisions, it's just that I see very little reason to use the feature as is, which is a bummer. Locking the Wooden Fists damage behind being rooted would be a good reason to use the feature, though I would...

Level Up (A5E) Questions about Oaken Fist archetype

Thanks for the clearing up! I don't see how Oaken Fist Adepts would be more tanky necessarily, but I do like the nature flavour. Nature's Boughs had the feeling of a ribbon feature for me, but it had too much crunch text to really view it as one. I think having to use an action to Take Root is...

Level Up (A5E) Questions about Oaken Fist archetype

I have a couple of questions with regards to the Oaken Fist archetype for Adepts, from GPG#13. 1. Wooden Fists action usage At level 6, Oaken Fists gain the Wooden Fists ability, which states: It does not specify an action type. Is it a free action? 2. Mighty Boughs gives Barkskin At level...

Level Up (A5E) Thoughts on A5E classes from your table(s)?

I think Adepts with stunning assault may even be worse. At lvl 12 with Unlikely Wield and Addtional Attack they make 6 attacks each turn via two-weapon fighting. They gain additional exertion from their class as well as +1 to maneuver DC's. Adepts don't get the Tempered Iron tradition at level...

Level Up (A5E) Maneuvers Again: RAW, RAI and Reasonable Rulings

I think your example is more a statement of the power of Stunning Assault than it is of the wording of CM's being strange or maneuver balance in general being off. Maneuvers cost a certain action to take, and within they state what you do as that bonus action, action or reaction. Also, they...

Level Up (A5E) Thoughts on A5E classes from your table(s)?

Pretty easily as a Rogue with some Skill Tricks :) Everytime we encounter a creature with a poison attack, I use the poisoner's kit to harvest poison from it (usually autosucceed since I have d10 expertise and Resident Expert from Human which means I roll a 10 at the d20 mininum). Then I use...

Level Up (A5E) Thoughts on A5E classes from your table(s)?

Oh there are ways to get it for sure. e.g. Going 1 level Fighter nets you a Fighting Style and any traditions that you might ever want in addition to the best maneuver progression.

Level Up (A5E) Thoughts on A5E classes from your table(s)?

Berserkers do not get access to the Razor's Edge tradition. Which is a shame, because the class that has class features designed for crits does not get the maneuvers that enable them more than any other. But Furious Critical absolutely gets applied :)

Level Up (A5E) Thoughts on A5E classes from your table(s)?

We are lvl 8. Berserker feels somewhat immortal. It is more tanky than the O5E variant for sure but I think they deal similar damage compared to an O5E one. Of course, as soon as the crit train starts, enemies drop, but I have yet to see the Berserker in our game out-damage my Cutthroat Rogue...
