    Defenders of the Faith question

It's probably only supposed to apply to Charisma based checks (a la the Breastplate of Command in the DMG), but the Errata didn't say anything about it.

    They already have.

Player, DM, or PC call? (longish)

I think there is far too much metagame influence for this situation to be handled responsibly in game. I think that the vindictiveness of those involved proves that. The party relied heavily on metagame information to make an incorrect asssumption, but they were told of the mistake before...

    Dwarven Defender

If you want defense in 3.0, you just can't go wrong with the tower shield.

    Adamantine Defending Sword.

It would seem so. That's pretty nifty, and almost counteracts the complete uselessness as is in the 3e rules. See, the two different +2 bonuses overlap, so when you take away one, you still have the other. Adamantine never penetrates DR in 3e, which is complete bull, but it's the official...

    Paladins in 3.5, why?

    Sort of like St. Cuthbert.

    Paladins in 3.5, why?

Well, while we're on this whole discussion, let's make Monks, Sorcerors, Rangers, Bards, Barbarians, and Druids PrCs too. After all, those are specific archetypes also. Bard - A rogue that can sing and cast spells. Rogue/Wizard fills that niche fine. Monks - Fighters with unarmed combat...

    D&D 3.x [3.5] Paladin Mount Dismissal

From that description, it sounds like you'd only be able to "summon" your mount once a day, which means if it's dismissed, it's gone for the rest of the day. But I'm not sure where the text came from, so I can't say how accurate it is to the 3.5 rules.

    Monte Cook on Revised books

While I agree that 3.5 is completely geared toward making money, I don't care. The fact is, given what I've seen about the changes involved, I would much rather buy the 3.5 books than any of, say, the class splatbooks. IMO the splatbooks were also purely about making money, and really lacked...

What if humans were not dominant race?

Well, I can give you the purely mathematical solution to how many people you'd have. You have 500,000 people after 10 years, with 990 years left, right? You have a population grown of 10% every 35 years, which is .2857% a year. The formula I used is 500,000(1+.002857)^990 (which may or may...

Armour Dilemma: Am I Wrong Here?

That's the key point. The nature of the combat effectively eliminated one of the major advantages of part of the party, and such a disadvantage would have put those players in moral danger. If you do it once, it's not that big of a deal. Certainly not something to create a major argument...

    Fun with Telekinesis

DM: "Have fun rolling 5,000 attack rolls." One bad trick deserves another.

Armour Dilemma: Am I Wrong Here?

I agree. It was either stay and don your armor and not fight, or run into the fight and die. If it were my paladin, he would have grabbed his shield and left his armor at home, since not fighting for reasons of personal security isn't exacty heroic or honorable. Then again, he's died a lot...

    Dire Tigers CR is WRONG.....

Or, in my case, a TPK. The party hardly even put up a fight. The girallon shredded one character every round, and the party wasn't fast enough to run away and incapable of dealing solid damage to it.

    Half-elves: What's the problem?

I've played a half-elf before, and in a hack and slash party, he held his own. I particularly found the Favored Class: Any to be the half-elf's saving grace. Unfortunately, I have yet to play a half-orc character, and there's a distinct reason for that. The half-orc is the most one...

Making lv 1 Paladin for the first time & need help

I agree, these stats are excellent. I can see where someone more used to higher power levels can think that these stats are pretty bad for a paladin, since he doesn't have a "good" stat to put into Strength, but a +2 is very respectable.

Fairness Point-Buy and rolls other than stats

    True, but does it really matter if the stats were instead: 18, 18, 18, 18, 18, 17 and 10, 10, 10, 14, 6, 12

Fairness Point-Buy and rolls other than stats

Ok, but if you are going to moderate the rolls for the sake of fairness, why not use a system that is inherently fair in the first place?

Fairness Point-Buy and rolls other than stats

But what if you had no specialty? None at all. In fact, even normal shmoes off the street at better at you in a random field. Randomized stats are just too random for me. If you had a game where one character rolls a 18, 17, 18, 16, 18, 14 and another rolls a 6, 9, 11, 5, 13, 8, how much...

    Recipe for an Army Killer

Yes, it does. It means that all of the targets have to be within 30 feet of each other. There cannot be one target that is farther than 30 feet from any other target. This is effectively a circle. Now that I think about it, it would be more elliptical, but the point is that an enlarged...
