    HeroQuest/QuestWorlds

Is there someone I can contact about joining the playtest group?

Why do levels one and two suck so bad?

Because your character can be killed by dire rats and thrown rocks? I'd say it's tough to be/play, or at least to feel heroic when your character is so fragile.

Need help picking a system for my campaign!

I'd lean toward D6 or Savage Worlds, but would also consider Mutants and Masterminds and HERO, depending on the level of crunch that you like. I think any of them would get the job done to your satisfaction.

    HeroQuest/QuestWorlds

Did a generic version of the HeroQuest rules ever come out? If so, what's the product name? Thanks.

Game design that I'm surprised didn't make it into more books

I'd be interested in the historical fantasy and harry potter-ish material. Do you make them available?

Best Five RPG Books You Own

Aaron Allston's Strikeforce - for a crash course in the process and methodology of running campaigns, player types, etc Star Wars D6 - probably 2nd edition revised and expanded edition, though perhaps 1st edition. Greyhawk The Marklands - changed the way I look at politics, war, and integrating...

    The printing press

The Ptolus setting has printing presses. Basically, it seems to provide an outlet for activists/interested parties to publish broadsheets with news of various levels of journalistic integrity. The broadsheets are a good way to plant plot seeds, and give the pulse of other happenings throughout...

    Farewell, my Friend

That's what I like to hear! While I agree with Pirate Cat's sentiment of having taken the magazines to an awesome level, what sounds even better to me is for the next wave of Paizo stuff to be so far past that we all go, well, Dragon and Dungeon were good, but this new new stuff, is 'freakin'...

    2007 ENnie Voting Goes Live!

With just about every company being a small publisher, how do you gauge an Indy game? Is there a formal criteria? Not that it matters to me really, I'm just curious - is Malhavoc indy? Green Ronin? Expeditious Retreat would certainly seem to qualify as "indy size", but they're not any bigger...

Should WOTC participate in the ENnies?

I agree they should participate, but am not sure I agree that OGL should embrace D&D products. Wouldn't D&D better fit into a d20 category? If they are included in both d20 and OGL categories, then I at least think that the same products should have to be submitted for both categories. It makes...

Should WOTC participate in the ENnies?

Maybe the fans could nominate products for consideration? Instead of publishers nominating their own? Or, maybe limit the submission to one or two per publisher per category.

    What would AIs call themselves?

They would be called immortal. How are more of them created? AI might be used if they are 'manufactured'. Are they self propogating now? Do they consider that process to be 'building children', 'birthing/having children', 'creating children'? I think whether they developed a new name for...

    How Did You Start Playing?

I was introduced by a friend at school to the TSR Marvel Advanced Game, and Basic D&D. Without game stores though, I never would have found Champions, WEG's Star Wars, Chill 2nd Edition, old out of print gaming books before the Internet, miniatures, and all kinds of other stuff.

    Large-scale, 1-inch graph paper

I've used easel pads ever since I saw it done in a local game store. Great for reusing the maps when PCs retreat (no need to redraw!), preparing in advance, and so on. I recommend drawing in crayon, since it doesn't bleed through the paper. Cheap color battle mats. It's a bit pricy to buy up...

    Variant spell descriptions

I've been thinking along these lines for a while, but as the original poster noted, having a list of descriptions to pull from would be great. I know collectively the ideas will be more enthralling than if I relied on only my ideas. Related to your point about magic items though, can you give a...

    The Magic-Walmart myth

Isn't it written into the RAW that players should be able to make these purchases? Maybe I'm mistaken, but I think it might be more a factor of following the RAW (or at least an implicit expecation that the RAW sets up with players) as opposed to a lazy DM.
