    Converting the Dukes of Hell

http://www.enworld.org/showpost.php?p=3389769&postcount=98 temptation is what devils are all about! ;) we'll go with Large for his standard form then. even 9 feet tall would cover that, so he needn't be a giant or anything. he's not related to the abishai, just works with them. :) i...

    Converting the Dukes of Hell

A bit of work for his Alternate Form power: “He can shape change at will into a dirty yellow unicorn with eyes of flame and a purple horn… “When in unicorn form, Amduscias attacks with his horn (acts as a sword of wounding, for 2-9 damage), or his hooves (2 per round, for 2-10 damage each)...

    Converting the Dukes of Hell

OK, here is what i currently show for his stat block: Amduscias Medium Outsider (evil, extraplanar, lawful) Hit Dice: 26d8+208 (325 hp) Initiative: +3 Speed: 30 ft Armor Class: X (-X size, +3 Dex, +X natural), touch X, flat- footed X Base Attack/Grapple: +26/+36 Attack: Slam +X melee (1dX+X)...

also, we should probably give him some weapons to wield. ;) maybe a dagger and short sword (it says he uses smaller weapons), with perhaps +3 enchantments.

    Converting the Dukes of Hell

that's a special attack now? ;) i think making his humanoid form into his "base" form is a good idea - after all, most uber-devils are humanoid in form. he'll just swtich to a wolf regularly. :) so: Combat Expertise, Dark Speech, Improved Critical (bite), Improved Initiative, Multiattack...

    Converting the Dukes of Hell

would Dex 17 (taking 2 from Con) be too much?

    Converting the Dukes of Hell

although to keep things simple with his feats, i'd add 4 back to his Dex and take 2 each away from two other scores. either go with this, or what i said above.

    Converting the Dukes of Hell

i like it! :) he doesn't have to be a master of fighting with two weapons, but he'd better be at least competent. we'll see; keep those in mind. might as well go dire wolf, although there are clear differences. ;) i wouldn't, actually. ;) some of these dukes have legimate fear auras...

    Immortal Set Creatures Conversions

nope - this forum is for posting new monsters as well as conversions. GMT is for discussions about monsters, as well as working on conversions and new monsters when seeking input from other posters. at least, that's how i use 'em. ;) Homebrews as showcase, GMT as workshop. :)

Converting monsters from the second edition Monstrous Compendiums

OK, here is the text we currently have for severing a tether. I absolutely agree that as it stands, this is a bit convoluted and needs some simplification. However, I also feel that most of it should be kept: Here is the text from the hydra that we modeled that after: Most creatures have a...

Converting monsters from the second edition Monstrous Compendiums

i like that better, actually. :) OK, i'm going to try to find the time to look at the combat text and see how i can simplify that...

Converting monsters from the second edition Monstrous Compendiums

i really don't feel that they are separate creatures until separated from the main plant. while tethered, i think they are little more than appendages that do what the plant needs them to do. at the moment of separation they are totally independent, but not until then. ever seen John...

Converting monsters from the second edition Monstrous Compendiums

i decided to take a break from the mechanics for a bit and so i wrote up the flavor text. ;) i promise that simplifying the attack mechanics is a priority though - in fact, i figured maybe working some of that info into the flavor text would save me some trouble trying to fit it into the...

Converting monsters from the second edition Monstrous Compendiums

even better, imagine this, with 12 mature pods, how much of a terror this one would be - every square could get hit with at least two pods:

Converting monsters from the second edition Monstrous Compendiums

Excellent. ;) I do think it’s important to retain the concept that the pod denizens are Medium-size with 20-foot reach. First of all, that puts them in the way to a point where you can’t move through their space (since you can move through the rest of the bloodsipper’s space, after all)...

Converting monsters from the second edition Monstrous Compendiums

exactly. i'd be willing to go a bit higher than 19 (it's only got a +11 attack bonus, but it's grapple check is +35) if you like, but not more than 30 i think. i'm fine with leaving it as-is though, so either way. with a Dex of 9, and its size mod, that brings us down to AC 1. to get even...

Converting monsters from the second edition Monstrous Compendiums

oh, also, for the attach/blood drain sequence, i was thinking these guys might work mechanically something along the lines of the anguillian from Stormwrack - since there's a precedent, and it works, i'd like to keep that part as is. :) it really seems to be more like that anyway, than an...

Converting monsters from the second edition Monstrous Compendiums

yeah, that's what i'm going to do. hopefully the text will be pretty clear that it can have less than 12 though. one problem with the orcwort comparison is that the orcwort doesn't use its wortlings before they separate from the main plant, unlike the bloodsipper and its pod denizens. i'll...
