An enhancement bonus isn't a score. If my fighter has a STR of 11 and puts on Gauntlets of Ogre Power, his Strength score is still 11. The enhancement bonus of the item doesn't change the base score.

The WOTC stuff I can think of at the moment includes Magic Missile(1st) and Orb of Force(4th). What else should I be considering? Magic Missile: 1d4+1, max 5, up to 5 targets. SR applies. Orb of Force: 1d6, max 10, 1 target, no save or SR. What stats would fill in spells to fit these...

Erhm, you can't have a Wand of Empowered Fireball - wands have a cap of 4th level spells, and EF counts as 5th. Oh, and my DM mentioned he might house-rule the Orb spells due to their no-save, no-SR status.

Uh, the other three characters in example 2 have 3500gp worth of treasure each. 2000+1500 = 3500. The crafter is still a bit better off in gear though lower in XP.
