    Artifact and ECL rules question

Here's the thing. (And I don't mean to argue over this, I haven't even played this game in three years. This is purely academic speculation on my part.) But if I'm DMing and you bring a build to the table that my monsters can't save against, the next encounter is going up in CR by 10%. If it...

    Multi-Forcefield+Enchanted Damage Induction = surpass Uber-Power Attack?

At the expense of role playing, sure. I mean, yeah, you have insect gods or weird Far Realm swarmy entities, but really, how many gods are really going to choose to appear as a swarm? Though...a massive hive-minded cosmic entity composed of hextillions of individual units would be kind of...

    Multi-Forcefield+Enchanted Damage Induction = surpass Uber-Power Attack?

That sounds like it would work to me, never thought of that. Good to have a counter to it. And the reason PA is so insane is both the PA tree AND Ultimate Weapon Specialization AND Perfect Critical Multiplier, which gives you things like Orthru's 312:1 ratio, compounded by his 45% chance of...

    Artifact and ECL rules question

Oh, I misread your Golem comment, apologies. I see what you mean, and yes, indeed. Summoning is, of course, both iconic and integral. I give Adjuration to every deity I stat just to take advantage of their Portfolio powers. I still stand by the tactic being less than optimal in a lot of cases...

Using Immortals Handbook AND d20 Future

I can't answer, obviously, since I didn't design the abilities. However, the Death portfolio allows you to auto-dominate any Undead in your Aura, which helps if you're the lead-by-example type.

    Artifact and ECL rules question

    1. Time Stop falls apart because of a.) Spell Stowaway b.) Epic Ward spells c.) Slipstream d.) Contingencies The higher up you go, the more prevalent these become. By 100, everyone who's made it that far has some form of counter to Time Stop. 2. WotC was obviously not designed...

    Artifact and ECL rules question

Time Stop loses its efficacy around level 40 or so and becomes a joke by 100. Celerity on the other hand, is always useful. And I'll mention that it's been ages since I've even looked at my Immortals stats, but at a glance, my First One of magic (double)...will, most of the time, rely on her...

    Vampire Bestiary

^Hey! At least he's not George R. R. Martin! (going on 5 years to publish a book that was more than half finished 5 years ago...)

    Epic/Immortal Prestige Classes

I may have more insight at some later point when I'm not miserably sick, but one thing I can add right now is the issue I personally had when I turned my thoughts toward the idea of Immortal prestige classes, and that's the question of how does one differentiate enough between a class and a kit...

    Custom divine abilities, portfolios, etc.

Only on a charge (and RAW, only on the first round of combat, but who pays attention to that anyway? Stupid 3.0 fossil-rules). My Perfect Spring Attack, as worded, actually reduces a Full Attack to a Standard Action, which opens up a whole lot more opportunities. (It does have hefty pre-reqs...

    Custom divine abilities, portfolios, etc.

I personally use an Epic Feat called Perfect Spring Attack that requires SA plus the two additional Spring Attack feats from the PHB2. Seriously, the ability to move and full attack should not be kept from fighters until level 50+. It's really not that overpowered.

Indeed, to my great frustration. :p I'll still buy it though when you get it done.

    Vampire Bestiary

I'm honestly glad I don't play DnD anymore. It makes waiting a lot less frustrating, since, while I'll certainly buy anything U_K puts out, it's only as a novelty to toy around with, rather than something I'm desperately waiting to put into use. That said...I still want to see some Umbrals...

will these monsters appear in 4e?

From what I remember of the Chronicle thread, the Infinitaur is a Far Realm Entity that specializes in murdering Sidereals; U_K's adventure seed had the players fighting off the head of a Cogent invasion on top of a massive, geometrically-suspect tower, only to discover, after they killed the...

    Ascension ability questions

Oh, hey, U_K. (how rude of me not to say hi last post.) And...there were definitely some things that could have used fixing in Ascension...I just can't remember any of them! It's been a while since I pulled it up last, I'll try and take a long sometime. I have a crazy-busy weekend...

    Ascension ability questions

I was always under the opinion it effected everyone EVERYWHERE if the Eternal so chose. Like, wounding them wounds all of existence, which would seem to make sense. Though...doesn't Omnipresent + Transpersonal achieve the same effect?

    Ascension ability questions

No, not to my knowledge. I'd also rule that they lose any Alignment portfolios they already possess. Of course, I don't use the opposed portfolios rule. One of my scariest entities if a First One with Double Time and Double Entropy.

    Ascension ability questions

That one makes perfect sense to me. The Big Drift and all, Time dying once everything is infinitely far apart on a sub-atomic scale. Also, Time is eternal, without beginning or end. Entropy is about the end, or rather, a return to the beginning. They always seemed like polar opposites to me...

    Any Malazan fans here?

Thanks for the kind words, Melanos. :) I'll do some more eventually, I've been busy for the past few days. I think Cotillion came out the best, myself. And I am so stoked for The Crippled God it's ridiculous. I can't wait, though I'm sure I'll be seriously depressed once I actually finish...
