    D&D 3.x Will 4E combat actually run slowly...slower than 3E?

It could be like the villain classes from Iron Hero. Pick a villain archtype, check the level you want and instant villain in less than 5 minutes, even if it is a 20th level one.

Points of Light and the Forgotten Realms

Excuse my sweeping generalization then. My point being, making wide ranging and enduring changes to a campaign setting to accomodate a Living campaign that WILL end at some point for another Living campaign is a bad idea, if that is the intention of the changes to the campaign setting. I can...

Points of Light and the Forgotten Realms

'Points of Light' is a setting philosphy, not a game mechanic. Nowhere have I seen that 'Points of Light' is a requirement of 4E. I don't get the why for a 'reboot' of the Realms. It can't be just to re-image the FR to conform to their paradigm for their default setting, because if it is the...

    Age of Worms AP?

As in a compilation - No. Same reasons as for the hardcover - needs WOTC approval. As individual issues of Dungeon - Yes, provided the physical magazine is sold out. Unless things have changed, Paizo cannot sell a PDF of an issue of Dungeon unless all physical issues are sold out.

    Age of Worms AP?

There were plans. Paizo needs permission from WOTC to do the hardcover and sought the permission. WOTC has not responded to the Paizo request for sometime. Reason unknown. Noone knows what the announcement of 4E means to these plans. Some believe that it will fast track the hardcover to...

    Best Forgotten Realms adventures.

Curse of the Azure Bonds I liked it but given the nature of the 'Azure Bonds' compulsions and the initial setup, it wasn't liked by some players because you got locked into the railroad car on one big railroad of an adventure. If you can look past that, it isn't a bad adventure as it starts...

    The Sky is Falling

There will always be people who think a new edition is the beginning of the apocalypse. I ignore them..... as should you. :p

    Playtesting?

Usually, there is a playtest lead. This is the person who will be the single point of contact between the designer and the playtest group, as the designer doesn't want to deal with tons of playtesters. All materials go to the playtest lead. The playtest lead disseminates the material...

D&D 4E 4E Setting Concept: Out with the Old?

I don't see it as Old Gamer vs New Gamer. It is more about the detail level. What is a more sellable product - one in which there is minimal detail and it is up to the DM to create or flesh out what elements he wants (old Greyhawk as a case in point)? Or one in which there is degree of...

(Rappan Athuk) CE response to a PC-led assault

Is the party still in the relate immediate area or have they retreated some distance ( > 5miles ) to lay low for a while? Were there witnesses? Can the party be tracked? I ask this because unless the goblins have a clear target, the response will vary. If the party is in the relate...

    what hath been wrought?

I use artifacts/relics in my campaigns. They can be plot devices. Or a foreshadower of things to come. Or simply a tool like any other magic item (or so I have the players think :] ) PCs can use them. Under certain circumstances, PCs can create them. I've had a 1st level party find a...

    The Killer Dungeon

I love killer dungeons. For me, it is the appeal of knowing that any moment can be your last and surviving the long odds. If you survive ToH, Labyrinth of Madness, Crypt of the Devil Lich, etc - particularly when your fellow players' characters did not, qualifies you for bragging rights.

    Playtesting?

Well, I hope maybe having all sorts of playtest experience will give me a leg up on the rest of you mugs, since our group did all the playtest for Malhavoc Press. Well, it can't hurt to mention that. **koff, koff** <slips Scott a crisp $100 bill> :p

    Rules bits we already know

It was mentioned that the sorceror will remain and will be quite 'different' from the mage / wizard. I am thinking that that sorceror will kill the warlock and take his stuff. Warlock is the byproduct of dark powers or pacts, the sorceror is the by-product of dragon/outsider/whatever...

    D&D 4E 4e - More monsters per encounter?

It will probably be like Iron Heros 'combat zones' Basically, the environment enhances the fight. Example: Tavern brawl. Tables and chairs can be flipped, throw, stacked up, etc. Mugs can be thrown, people can swing from hung lighting, rugs can be pulled, etc. Now, most people may say "I do...

So will 4th edition REQUIRE an online subscription?

Yes. I wasn't dissing it. It makes perfect sense and if you want to fully use the DI, you better be prepared to buy the physical book. I don't have a problem with that but I can see people being unhappy about that.

So will 4th edition REQUIRE an online subscription?

This is most likely how it works. The books are complete. There will be optional material available 'to enhance play experience' offered on the DI which the owner can access by entering a license key found in the book. Now...after discussion with my friend, here I believe is the kicker in all...

Why is Wizard's Site down at this critical time?!?

Gosh, it shows. :o I confess, I never played it. But my son plays it constantly and he never complains about down servers. Still, it doesn't change the fact that Blizzard can maintain SOME semblance of customer service for 9 million WOW players and that WOTC has fumbled the ball on this...

Why is Wizard's Site down at this critical time?!?

The 4E announcement got Slash Doted and the traffic load bought the servers to their knees. Still, WOTC should have anticipated a higher volume of traffic on their servers (discounting the slash dot spike) and taken action to ensure they could meet the demand. Blizzard can maintain servers...
