Elements of Magic, BCCS/True Sorcery, and True20

Thanks for the reply, igavskoga! If you want to learn a bit more about Mythic Earth, you could do worse than check out this review here. It sounds from your description that both BCCS and Mythic Earth have very similar design goals. The two big differences that I can see are that it's easier...

Elements of Magic, BCCS/True Sorcery, and True20

I'm really curious to know if anyone out there is familiar with both Green Ronin's Black Company Campaign Setting magic system (which was also published separately as True Sorcery), and EN Publishing's Elements of Magic: Mythic Earth. And so are some people over on the True20 Forums. What do...

Eric's Annual Trip down Memory Lane

That sounds like a plausable and sustainable buisness model, but in my heart of hearts I don't think it's the way RPGs should be. "The medium is the message" and all that.

Eric's Annual Trip down Memory Lane

I don't have my print-outs any more, but I did the exact same thing. I guess I've been lurking on and off since 1999, then. It only took me -what? -5 years to start posting? Man oh man. I'm glad I did. George

    Online Quizzes Useful for Gamers

I remember a while ago taking a quiz that ranked how much you fell into Robin D Laws' categories from Robins Laws to Good Gamemastering, but I've long since lost the link. That quiz seemed pretty accurate to me, and I've seen enough people around here with its results in their sigs, so it got...

    Panty Explosion

Maybe that's exactly the first impression he wants to give - kind of like Lumpley Games' kill puppies for satan: an unfunny roleplaying game, only not quite as extreme.

    HMP's 48-hour "I Got Robbed!" Sale

From Stone to Steel gets a vote of confidence from me, too. I might have to check out Frost & Fur now.

Immortals Handbook Epic Bestiary (now available)

    Add me to that list.

Which book(s) should I buy next?

I voted PHB II and Monsternomicon 3.5. I have the original Monsternomicon, and it is dense! It has way more information then you'd ever be able use in one campaign... in each monster entry :) There's a little too-much fiction, but other than that it should be all around good.

    Tiles? Terrain? Battlemats?

I'll have to get one, then! They're certainly more affordable than Tact-Tiles

    Tiles? Terrain? Battlemats?

I've got one of those two-sided chessex things, wet-erase markers, and Fiery Dragon counters, but I've been thinking of checking out tact-tiles and this new Flip-Mat thing from Steel Sqwire.

Immortals Handbook Epic Bestiary (now available)

speaking of maths I'm really suprised CRGreathouse didn't show up in this thread a while back: http://www.enworld.org/showthread.php?t=150760

What is a GOOD rules light system?

Hooray for FATE! I didn't get the whole toolbox nature of Fudge back when I first read it in highschool, but I definately appreciate it now, though I'd still probably never want to run a game of Fudge. FATE, on the other hand, I wouldn't mind GMing. I've been tinkering with FATE a lot...

    Elements of Magic

Sorry! I was speaking in general terms and not even paying attention to what bearing the above would have on any campaign. I've never even considered buying the Arms and Equipment Guide. Sorry about my hypothetical murmerings cluttering up your thread ;) edit: And hooray for Stone and Steel!

A GAME OF THRONES = Dead!!!

Ot Now I'm going to have to look at the title pages of some GURPS books. Thanks! [/off topic]

A GAME OF THRONES = Dead!!!

Whoa. I went out and bought Ex Machina based only on Teflon Billy's review of it. Those five stars pale in comparison to the glowing recommendation Aus_Snow and TB just made for AGoT. I'm kind of embarrassed that I somehow missed TB's review... I've never been disappointed going with a...

A GAME OF THRONES = Dead!!!

Here's a tangentially related question - What's David Pulver up to these days? I don't think he's updated his webpage this year. Is he writing GURPS stuff for SJG, or is he not doing game design at all anymore?

    Elements of Magic

Throwing Axe actually isn't mentioned in the text of any group proficiency feat - GlassEye was right! Personally, I'd group the Throwing Axe in both the "Axes" and the "Slings and Thrown Weapons" groups, especially since "Slings and Thrown Weapons" has only two weapons in it as-is. It's...

    Elements of Magic

Oh wow! This is too cool. Is there some True20 influence in the Fatigue rules and the 1 feat per level progression?
