Yeah, but I want the ability to stat up a 30th level wizard. That's what's still missing from Pathfinder. In order to be truly compatible with 3.x, one should be able to stat up characters from levels 20-30 because such PCs appear in 3.x products. (And yes, I know I can use the 3.x versions...

I see mythic similarly to how I saw gestalt in 3.5. It's an option for when you have less than the standard party of four PCs and want to run an adventure that expects 4 PCs. However, I still would have preferred epic rules to mythic - at least taking characters to level 30.

I think that with every edition switch you will gain and lose players. If your new edition causes you to lose more than you gain, you're in trouble, and every edition change has that risk. If you have a hit, better to stay with it than risk losing too many players (especially since this hobby...

Has D&D ever gone this long not being #1 in this report? They haven't been #1 for, what, 2 years now? (And it will likely continue for the next 2 quarterly reports as this one is for Fall 2013.) Of course, I expect they will vault to #1 in whatever quarter 5E releases, but it will be...

Nope. Don't need a new edition. But then, I'm GMing Slumbering Tsar, which is cooler than any adventure I've ever GMed. We'll be playing it for quite a while longer...

They always need errata corrected. Save your money and buy the book in 2015 (hopefully) for an errata corrected version. (Although, IIRC, that would not have worked for 4E, as I don't think they ever had a true 2nd printing other than the $50(?) $75(?) "special edition".)

Actually this poll seems to be much more favorable for 5E than it was for 4E at the same time. IIRC, Only 33% or so of people were buying 4E unseen while over 50% are seemingly going to buy into 5E. Bodes well for WotC.

No, I'm done with the edition treadmill. What I might buy, though, are 5e adventures or campaign fluff books if they are done well and if the rules are all posted online for free. (That way I can translate any rules to my game of choice.)

*And* the Pathfinder core book is only $10 as a PDF. Will Wizards do the same with D&D for those that don't want to spend $50? Time will tell. (Though they should release all of the rules for free.)

Yeah, RPG rule #1: Wait until the 2nd printing (with errata corrected) to buy the core book. :) (And at $50, even more so!)

WotC clearly has some business sense or they would not have been able to sustain Magic: The Gathering for all of these years. I just don't think the D&D RPG is "right-sized" for them in this day and age.
