Swordmages and half-orcs hit the streets!

I wouldn't jump into conclusions yet as to Constitution being a primary stat for the Swordmage as many people on this thread seems to be implying. Take a look at the Paladin... no, actually, take a look at the Warlord, Ranger, Cleric, Warlock and the Paladin. They all have at least 2 primary...

Reaping Strike + Dwarven Weapon Training

    No. Depends whther he's using a one-handed or two-handed weapon. With a one-handed weapon he'd do 2 damage on a miss, with a two-handed he'd do 4. 4.

    New 2009 Products up.

I don't know... I mean, from a marketing standpoint, think about it. If a given person doesn't like Psionics nor Shadow (as you pointed for PHB III) why would he buy the book? I think, and might as well be wrong, that they'll keep supporting "old" Power Sources so that there's stuff for...

Swordmages and half-orcs hit the streets!

Who said you don't Teleport? For all it's worth it could be you teleport next to ally to intercept foe's attack and then quickly teleports back to origin so fast that no one would even notice! Now, to be completely honest, I don't get the Teleport keyword either...

Swordmages and half-orcs hit the streets!

It has the Implement keyword, and not Weapon keyword. Which means, you don't get to add prof. bonus to attack, that justifies the "vs Reflex". If it's broken? I have no idea. All I know is that when I first heard about Swordmages I didn't give a damn... now all of a sudden, I want to play one.

    Haggling: rules, guidelines, suggestions?

I'd go with the table presented on the DMG page 42. "Difficulty Class and Damage by Level". Then, I'd set the difficulties according to the attitude of the merchant as: Easy = Friendly Moderate = Indifferent Hard = Unfriendly Ask for a Diplomacy roll. For each point by which the character...

Dynamic Excel "Wiesbaden Charactersheet" D&D (v1.11)

    1) on char sheet II there are yellow boxes, on these you can insert whatever you want. (ie. Torches and mundane items on Backpack, and right above your gold pieces there are places to insert material components for rituals) 2)You can disable the protection of the sheet and arrange it the way...

Except that, this time, you're the one creating the bag of rats where it doesn't exist.

KotS -- built for 5 PCs?

Back in 3.X and earlier editions, I used to run a NPC as a PC pretty much 90% of the times, sometimes even more than just one (2-3). And it worked pretty well to me, I never really had any problems with that. Now, on 4E I tried to do the same. On the first session we're playing I had only about...

    Vorpal Crits

So, let's see if I got this right. Suppose I'm a Fighter/Kensei/Demigod level 26, with the following stats: Str 26 (+8) Weapon Focus (Heavy Blade) (+3), Kensei Mastery (+4), Devastating Critical (+1d10 on a crit), +6 Vorpal Falchion (+6, +6d12 on a crit). Then I attack with Reaping Strike...

    D&D 4E Is 4E worth swtiching to?

Balance among classes and balance throughtout all levels of play. IMO, that's the only real improvement, all others are up to discussion.

    Fighter Vs Paladin

Generally speaking: Fighters = Passive awesomeness Paladins = Active awesomeness Most Fighter's stuff works in a way he doesn't necessarily needs to actively use. Combat Challenge extra attack, Combat Superiority that triggers on an Op. Attack, even his "passive" bonus to attacks over the...

Do You Need All 4 Roles in a Party?

From my experience so far (which is not much): 1 Leader + 1 Defender The rest is up to you.

    Level scaling

Just remember though that this rule only applies if you want to mod the monters up or down 5 levels. If you go beyond that you'll screw the math. And that's why they tell you to start with another creature. Before going on with this discussion, try leveling up a level 1 kobold to level 30 and...

Fighter: Still the King of melee?

I have not tested as you did. But I think it's imperative for the Ranger to make use of mobility and hit & run tactics. Even though they are both melee they got totally different playstyles, if you expect the ranger to be effective just by standing toe to toe with an enemy, you'll fail. (It's...

Ranger should have been Martial Controllers

Druids, Monks, Barbarians, and all the roles discussion aside, I do think that rangers would fit better as Controllers. The idea of slowing targets, interrupting actions, dazing, knocking prone (KD), placing snares/traps, spreading poison and such fits well with the class, and not the one hit...

    4th Edition Bard

I'm trying to download it but I keep getting corrupted files... Maybe that's the problem then, "sustain minor" would obviously be too broken, as you could effectively sing/play as you do other stuff, but if it had a "sustain standard" you would have to basicly sacrifice your main action in a...

    4th Edition Bard

This is, I dare say, the best attempt at bringing an old class to 4E that I have seen so far, really. Most stuff I'm seeing are people trying to make 4E versions of old editions' classes without trying to adapt to the new mentality of the game, but this one feels like 4E. I didn't read through...
