    Here comes Power Booster Packs

Thing is, even if that happens, it won't be a problem, at all. D&D is not a competitive game the same way as MtG. it's not like you're going to see this in game: DM: "Wait, you can't use that Power." Player: "Why not?" DM: "Because you printed it out yourself, it's 'fake' ." PLayer: " ? " It...

    Playing with the erratas?

We open the book (PHB) twice per game session on average. Most of the errata there is to fix some powers. The Powers are fully copied into each player's character sheet. The DMG only needs the new table. The rest of it is not really compromising your gaming experience (not mine at least). If...

switching a versatile weapon between 1h and 2h, what action?

I'm not sure that kind of comparison is really that relevant, otherwise you'll have to consider lots of other facts since you're not being fair, like for instance, both the Paladin and Fighter have powers that allows them to regenerate and/or spend healing surges to heal or even give them...

    Do vulnerabilities stack?

I'm not sure about the right answer, but think about it the other way around. If you hit a monster with Resistance against 2 different types of damage with an attack that deals both kinds. Do you reduce the damage twice, or only once? IMO, the answer to both your question and mine is "do it...

switching a versatile weapon between 1h and 2h, what action?

I actually like that WotC response. And I have no problem with it. Cheese? There's lots of things worse than that in the game (I almost threw up the first time I saw Blinding Barrage). Anyways, I'm running a game, and there's a Swordmage in the group, I had no trouble telling him he could do...

    4e Ranger builds

THere's also the bastard sword. Since you're human the feat for it shouldn't be a problem. I'm kinda paranoic about proficiency bonuses when it comes to something other than Fighters. So, while playing a ranger I'd stick with +3 ones, and the Bastdard Sword is probably the best one out there.

    Power Cards or Sheets?

At first i liked the idea of Power Cards, and printed some for my players... but with time more and more material coming up it gets unbearable pretty fast. For me (and my players) it's just easier to use a sheet for powers. I'm currently using this one. I just print several blank copies of the...

    D&D 4E Some Thoughts on 4e

Except Misty Step is totally unreliable. You have no control when it's going to trigger, and sometimes when it does you have no use for it. Sure Fey Step is an Encounter and Dimension Door a Daily, but two things comes to attention: One, range. You can hardly break the game by moving 5 squares...

What's the most significant difference you've found with 4e from 3e?

IMO, the main difference is this: In 3e you have a highly defined set of rules and, well, game definitions. Everything is defined for you. In 4e you have a more "free-form" set of rules and definitions. Whether either one is good or bad is up to personal opinion.

Mechanic to increase use of Magical Item Dailies

    I'd probably go with this.

Anyone currently or planning to playtest Artificer/Barb?

I'm starting a new campaign this saturday, and while the players were making their characters last saturday, one of them told me he'd like to play a Barbarian, and I told him it wouldn't be released up until monday... he went with TWF ranger... I'll see if he wants to change it in time...

    Solo Monster Initiative

Yeah, Ettins works like that, 2 initiative rolls and such... I think it's quite interesting.

    Barbarian is up!!!

One could simply fix that by ruling that you can only use the barbarian class features -Feral Might (including the extra encounter feature that comes with it), Rage and Rampage (maybe not Rampage as it's not that awesome)- while wearing light armor or no armor, kind of the same way rogues needs...

So how many different game systems have you tried?

-D&D mostly 2nd ed AD&D up to 4E (although I got this Haunted Tower box and the black box with the red dragon on it) -Storyteller (Vampire, Werewolf, Mage, Hunter, Wraith, CHangelling, Dark Ages) 2nd and 3rd ed (or revised or whatever). -Storytelling "nWoD" (Vampire, Werewolf, Mage) -GURPS 2e...

    Followup Damage

I'm just saying to not be so sure about that, as there's lots of controversial stuff on those [W] implement powers, and supposedly, there's an errata on the way. Also, just because A is false it doesn't mean B has to be true.

    Barbarian is up!!!

Ok, sorry about my rambling... but here I go again. I think (now, after reading this thread) they should just scratch this Rage Strike altogether. I got 3 reasons. 1) Unnecessary: there's really no need for this feature to be there. You could simply make an exception to the "Effect" clause on...

    Barbarian is up!!!

That's actually a very good point. Even though the fighter and some other classes also got dailies that works somewhat on a similar way (stances), and they don't have that kind of treatment. EDIT: Hum, yeah, maybe that other perspective might make me change my mind...

    Barbarian is up!!!

As I said on the other forum, I'm a bit disappointed with Rage Strike. I think it's bad design when you make somthing that people won't get to use up until they're lvl 5 (or more). I mean, there should be support to all levels of gameplay. And this feature looks... wrong. EDIT: To me it...

    Barbarian Playtest Poll

From first looking at it it seems a bit too strong, ok they don't have sneak attack/quarry/curse but all their at-wills are too strong. Compare Deft Strike (rogue) with Pressing Strike... Also, I don't like Rage Strike, knowing how paranoid I am (and mostly everybody I know) about wasting my...
